I found this just surfing the net
personally it's the best and most extensive one i've found so I thought I would share this gem

this is not mine it is Hawkeye's from survivalandpreparednessforum.com

Be sure to read all the pages, it's not just all on the first page

http://www.survivalandpreparednessforum ... ts-of-pics.

Finally shows people what camo is all about and how you could even use desert marpat effectively in a wooded environment, you just don't stand out in the open under light and expect to be invisible, even with woodland marpat and multicam you'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Once again, another reason why not to use Multicam. :D

I'm kinda disappointed that he would change up the sets he was testing depending on the environment (I think he should have tested all of the patterns in all the locations), but other than that, it was an interesting read. Thanks for posting it!

Interesting read, while just goes to show that camo is situational and there is no universal pattern. Personally I love ERDL and Vietnam era tigerstripe. Great breakup there for woodland environments.
My sword runs at 450 FPS, try to out run that! 35+ Sword/Knife Kills and counting.

Based on the last pages, it wasn't very effective in that particular wooded area, but like Snake_Eyes said, there is no universal pattern... although MARPAT did seem to fit that description the best. I just forgot humor doesn't travel well over the internet. ;) Personally, I like MARPAT's the best, but I have seen (or tried to see) Multicam work very well in certain leafy environments.

All in jest, but I have my preferences. :D

Back on topic, I just wish the Tru-Specs would hold their color from when they were new. Mine faded to a grayish-purplish-green tone.

I thought multicam worked well in the tests, and like he says about the whole still picture vs moving environment and your eyes/head darting and how its totally different perceptions

I love marpat for the situations I use it in (woodland play) but I also have a set of multicam that I was so stoked to use when I went down to play at summer slaughter in portland where it was very dry and arid->woodland->deserty and for going through the changing environments it worked out fantastic. I do admit in the woodland play I saw more multicam people than I saw marpat, but mainly because the marpat guys stayed in the shadows and below the level of sight eyes rest at where as multicam guys were playing like they were a distraction

So I do believe that some patterns are better for situations, but overall its just about knowing how and when to take cover, and that certain situations call for different camos.

I say just buy a pair of both and save yourself time googling "marpat vs multicam" and 100 variations of it :D

Personally I think that test wasn't very comprehensive nor was it explanatory enough for the reasoning behind what works and what doesn't, such as active/passive camouflage, the shapes in camouflage and where they work better, etc.

I have also found this site to be interesting at least, straight up useful at most (if you can get around the language barrier...)

I've seen that one alot too, but it works becuase multicam is in all the tan stuff/covered the front, ACU isnt covered at all, cadpat is in the green stuff, and the bunny isnt by the bunnies at all :P

but it just shows about the situations camo is in, thats why I liked the test
