Single and Double Action Triggers, How Important Are They?

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

Any trigger that moves more than 1/4 inch is for Noobs.

If your safety skillset does not allow for a Real Steel 1911 in condition one then you should be teaching your brain not your hands.

I've carried 1911 in con1 for almost 20 years daily, tens of thousands of rounds through the gun thousands of speed rock presentations and not a single AD.

Then again at the first BSP pistol class Bill got shot while sitting on the sideline, glad that shit was .20 6mm not 230G .45.

You airsofters scare the shit outta me when real guns come into the picture.

Now as far as getting a Glock goes, I would love to get a G17 but sadly they are almost almost always out of stock.

Go to the Hong Kong sites, uncompany, e hobby asia, red wolf etc.... to locate a Glock. get one of the Taiwan versions as opposed to the Japan versions (which have plastic slides). I can usually find Glocks there. The Glock trademark infringement thing is why they are so hard to find in the US

UNCompany has Glock 19 in stock right now ( slightly smaller, good for a secondary)

In the alternative buy a plastic slide version ( in stock at all) and replace the slide with a metal one

Yeah. Ehobby has custom glocks with glock trademarked metal slide and some nineball internals.

Thanks but, I checked a bunch of sites yesterday for the Glock 17/19 which I really want. Also, that link says that that Glock 19 is discontinued. Just a heads up.

One allows you to carry hammer down, one has an overall better-feeling and faster trigger. Go with what you like better. They're entirely different guns anyway; trigger is a small part of choosing. I say how the grip fits your hand is the most important part overall.

Single action= lighter and crisper straight back trigger pull where the trigger releases the sear in return releases the hammer which falls home on the firing pin. 1911s have 2 physical safeties. 1 is a thumb break safety and the other is a grip safety. both must be disengaged for the hammer to fall forward. 1911s are used by top military SF units around the world such as MARSOC and SFOD Delta. It is also the number one pick for IPSIC and other pistol shooting competitions. The 1911 has been in every US military operation for exactly 100 years. The common concerns that they are more prone to negligent discharge is general BS. Proper training and obeying the 5 basic firearms safety rules at all times eliminates this issue.

Double Action/ Single action (M-9)= long heavy trigger pull on the first round that draws the hammer to the rear and releases it home to the firing pin. after the first round is fired the hammer locks to the rear and you end up with a lighter and shorter trigger pull. This would be the single action. All DA/SA guns have a de-cocker. Double actions require more training to learn the different breaks in the trigger and the use of the de-cocker to the point of it becoming instinctual.

Both are good and require significant training to master. depends on personal preference.
