Eotech question.

So while browsing ehobby asia, I noticed what look like some kind of lever that you pull up on on the front of it. Seen here - http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/accessories/ ... ht-bk.html

What is it for?

Quick detach - it's so you can take it off and put it on without fiddling with a thumbscrew.

Hmm, after looking at the picture, it appears that the holoshight shown isn't really a 557. The 557 has the quick detach I described above. The lever you're looking at in the picture is what opens the battery compartment.

I've been looking at a 552 with a 3x mag. Any info on this? Pros / Cons? Hows the magnifier? Or is it just too much stuff to keep track of.

Only problem I had with the flip-to-side magnifier is that it may not be level with the eotech. You may end up needing to change mounts to get them on the same sight plane.

Other than that, they are pretty darn outstanding.

I found a set with both on ebay for $96 I forget the shipping but it was under $10. Good price, or do you know of a better source? Oh and the 3x is mounted on a swivel off. It looks level but we are talking about ebay and its from china...

If the eotech and the magnifier are seperate bits (which they should be), the magnifier may be mounted on a flip-to-side mount. This mount sits higher on a rail than a basic eotech. You may need to mount the eotech on a QD mount to raise it level with the magnifier.

Thats a 553.. And possibly a few others. This is a 557:

And the lever the OP references is still that what opens the battery compartment, as Nick stated. The QD mount on pretty much every Eotech is a seperate unit.
