Extreme Rage X-Ray Full Face Mask vs. Scott Full Face Mask

Postby Gerard » Tue Nov 23, 2010 3:44 pm

Recently I heard about the dangers of losing a tooth is airsoft, and so I've decided to purchase a paintball mask. The two cheapest paintball mask that I found on AirsoftGI.com are the Extreme Rage X-Ray Full Face Mask and Scott Full Face Mask. Im leaning towards the Scott because it is confirmed that you can switch goggles easily. I would like to know if you can switch goggles on the X-Ray mask easily as well, if you can take off the visor of the scott mask (it looks so weird =P), and which mask would you recommend.

-Thank you, Gerard

It's not too common getting a tooth knocked out but I can respect your concern. Have you considered a mask with mesh?

I'm no expert in face masks but from what I have heard/know then the cheaper you go with goggles/lenses, the easier they will fog up on you and with mesh there is no fogging. Just make sure the mesh is stamped steel otherwise it might not withstand a higher velocity impact.

I have high quality goggles that I can use instead of the ones that come with the mask. Goggle quality is not the most important factor. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Translation: "Recently, I read this thread on AP and then talked to my parents about it. They said I should wear a facemask."

YES! See, AP, education DOES work. Even if he didn't talk to his parents about it, there was still some educatin' goin' on.

Gerard, well done.

As to masks, there's several good ones out there. Someone else, I hope, will supply you with a link or two. I would suggest a mesh face mask, though, rather than a paintball one.

=P Yeah sorta did find out through that thread. I didn't talk to my parents, I have enough common sense to realize that spending $25 is not too bad of a deal if it saves your teeth. Plus custom painted paintball mask look gnarly.

I don't need mesh, my goggles don't fog up plus that's way too expensive for eye protection.

Could someone please answer my questions?

He did. That is a mesh face mask to protect your teeth. It's only $50 verses $1000+ or whatever to fix a broken tooth. I use one, they are super convenient and sexy.

Plus if you wear a paintball mask I will laugh at you.

Nope:

Buying a paintball mask is one half of the price of a mesh mask. I don't know about you, but custom painted paintball masks look sick and its not that hard to do. Tell me if this is funny:

I'm not being sarcastic or anything, just trying to help... AirsoftGI has sales support link for your concerns about the products that they sell.

here is the link:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/information.ph ... ve_Support

Select Sales Support link and leave your name, E-mail address and your question.

The Extreme Rage X-Ray Full Face Mask is the same face mask that Tim used when filming this video. Low profile mask - makes aiming easy. I have no idea if switching goggles on this face mask would be easy, but if I have to pick between the two selections you mentioned I would pick the Extreme Rage X-Ray.

This one is what I use. I will be putting in an order at the end of the month. With shipping it will run you about 15.00. Let me know if you are intrested. Green, black, or tan are the colors that they have.

Since the rule down here in Honolulu, Hawaii, As Outlined by our local Airsoft community, Airsoft Hawaii, to play on MOST fields it is required to wear a paintball mask or something similar (Honestly if i had a choice i would wear the goggles and some face and mouth protection, but its either play by the rules, or not at all)

Anyway, i use the Scot Paintball mask and its alot better then the extreme rage mask, and since i use one of those Chinese Knock Offs MICH 2000 or 2002 (Cant remember) the "Cut out" lower part of the mask allows the helmet straps to go under with out any issues (After removing the visor mind you)

The Mask over all is provides great protection and is comfortable, and i would recommend it over the extreme rage one

If you are hellbent on getting a Mask, get the Scot.

P.S I can provide some pics upon request, i used that mask at a local event, so you can see how it looks
