Airsoft in Luggage

Postby Sleepy » Fri Mar 10, 2006 5:47 pm

So, what are the procedures of packing an airsoft rifle on an airplane?

Lets say, for example, that I live in Portland, and I'm gonna go visit some family in, perhaps, Virginia. I lock up my range bag, and call it luggage. do I have to declare it like a real steel weapon, and whats the procedure for declaring it. I asked my father who does a lot of plane travel, but he wasnt sure. Should i pack it like its real-steel, weapon and ammo in separate locked containers?

I've always heard you have to declare it, like a real firearm.

Depending on how long you're going to be there... I'd just mail it to myself to avoid the hassle. Might be a good idea to call the airport and ask them though.

Just put it in a hard case and I would recommend an orange tip. And declare it.

I would not take anyones advice here as legal.
Contact the airport/airline or the FAA and ask them directly.

A business friend on mine brought several PTW's to the Shot show.

Pelican cases. Ammo Seperate, Declared.

No problems. BUT thant being said.

i actually just got back from a 3 week vacation upon which i had brought my airsoft gun over in an airplane. All you really have do do is call the airport ahead of time and tell them that you have it. Then you can take to the airport but make sure that they know that you have it. And then they give you this slip and that is pretty much it. But just do the other thing spyguy said: have an orange tip and things like that. It all worked out great
