What weapon are you using for DMR? How many mags do you have/want to carry?

I run a very simple chest rig for my bolt action (or sometimes no chest rig at all). I carry a radio, a spare magazine for my gun, a 90rd bb loader, and a map. Build your kit on what you need to carry.

You will end up leaving your back up at the spawn point most of the game. It's a pain in the a$$ to carry 2 primary's into the field, and still try to be sneaky. A good sidearm is all you need. Trying to sling 2 rifles, and have a vest/chest rig, and engage targets, and move through thick underbrush tends to not work well.

As for bolt actions, why do you want one?

He said why, not what.

If your planning on rolling with a bolt, less is better with gear.

I haven't gotten around to buying a plate carrier, and my chest rig is a bit too large, so I usually just roll with a couple mags and speed loaders in my pockets. Semi-auto with midcaps is the way to go. If you need other gear I would say just leave it at the respawn.

If you go with an AEG you can cut off a small part of your selector plate and make it semi-only so you can take the FPS higher.

Thats a pretty nice gun. My only problem with the SVD platform is that they are so long.

That is kinda the point, long barrel = great accuracy.

+1 to the SVD idea. Also, I run a Tactical tailor MAV, with minimal pouches, with a hydro backpack holding spare ammo and such on my back. I'm also setting up a load out of my pack with a shot gun scabbard attached (holding my shotgun) and other things to be able to switch load out mid game if the needed role changes. That way you can ditch the pack at respawn of a concealed spot for larger games, and fall back to it as need be. That way if you do get compromised, more firepower isn't as far away. Also, if you don't want/need to be in a ghillie suit the entire game, you can store it neatly and carry it with you. This is in the making, and I'm sure it will get revised as it get fielded.

Both of you have good points. The longer barrel would in fact help. So what exact gear would help, and i would plan on getting it in OD, unless that is not a good idea
