This is what happens when finally you get tired of wearing helmets or when it's hot outside or when you simply don't want to wear a helmet and don't care about what others think..lol!:

It's not finished yet...just a prototype using heat glue. The right one will have sewn-on loop velcro not glued on velcro and more velcro on the sides..etc

Believe it or not, on the field, the glue is hardly noticeable and I receive quite a bit of requests for custom hats for their load-outs. With hot-glue or with sewn on loop velcro.

Regarding an MS2000 strobe...I've got one. I'll put it on the cap with it's custom cordura pouch and snap a photo of it just for fun. It actually works quite well. It may not look that great according to some people but it works and everything is attached so that nothing comes off. Surefire HL1 works perfectly...the switches are easily accessible and so is everything else. Like I said..when it's hot outside (like it is down here), you get creative with things.

I don't own a helmet. Prefer Soft covers. I usually wear a Marpat Patrol Cap, but I've got a boonie for rain.

Never found a helmet I found comfortable, so I can see how some folks might want the 'head-gear' mounted in another way.

I thought it would be front heavy...but I think I got away with this thing working out because of the type of hat this is..the way it was made. It fits great and adjusts very well, thus it is secure even with the Surefire on the front. I mounted the Suefire in the middle of the visor, instead of on the side like the Eotac's you see on the market because I wanted the light to flow straight in the middle and not from the side of the hat. For what I'm using the light for, this works better and the hat has better balance than how it would be if the Surefire was mounted on the side.

And that kinda looks like if you swung your head, your hat would fly off because of all the stuff strapped to it. I like it though.

im wondering this too, is the hat elastic or does it have velcro on the back? either way you'd have to turn your head pretty past.

No...it works very well, actually (see answer to that stated in my previous post).

The hat is twill/canvass type material and has a velcro adjustment on the back...no elastic.
