Thank you guys for the kind comments and little pieces of advice. Not a bad event for something I almost cancelled. I put in alot of work to run this event. You may have seen it, you might not have. I'm proud of it, I wish it would have turned out a little better.
My thanks
Thank you to my admins, without you guys I couldn't have done it. Thanks Seagreen for offering to step in and help admin.
Thanks to APST's Chief & a unidentified person for helping clean up the party tent area that was left a mess. Again cannot stress the importance of everyone picking up after yourself. I saw many examples of it, that area was not one of them.
Thanks grahamc for helping me with registration.
Thanks pacman for tagging along for support while I set up the field and also getting me breakfast.
Thank you to everyone that participated in the softshell orders and paid. I didn't have a single person flake on me. Thank you.
Most of all thank you to the players that come to my event. Without your support this couldn't happen. Me and my family greatly appreciate you giving us your hard earned dollars for my games, bb's and whatever crap I have to sell that you have to buy.
We had good attendance yesterday. We only had 27 players that didn't give the courtesy of cancelling their attendance but it shows that my plan worked. Lots of pm's and heads up that people were not coming all the way up to the event. To those that took this seriously, thank you. I will continue with my plan because I believe in it. Personal accountability is the best way. It's free and best of all it doesn't alienate anyone.
My gripes:
Besides seagreens closing comments. it's certainly annoying to deal with people not calling hits. It's nothing new for us though because we see it at every game. Hacking can ruin a game but it shouldn't because it's common place. However people need to start doing a better job of it.
I need to develop a system that questions can be asked/answered without interupting me every 10 feet before the start of a game. I care what you have to say however a hour before the game starts there lot's of moving parts going to get the game started on time. It's really frustrating and time consuming to get stopped over and over and over again just before kick-off.
I would also appreciate it, if more players would read the material I put out. There were lots of players that didn't read the handbook that had been published for about 1.5 months online and didn't understand what was going on.
My misses:
Need to have ready a bull horn so I can be heard through the talking (it's being shipped now)
I screwed up the briefing in the beginning. Camera caught my eye and it was distracting knowing it was being video taped. Please feel free to edit most of it. Also left my paperwork behind at registration for safety briefing.
Establish a private forum for admins so we can make sure we are all on the same page and do not deviate.
Get more of the marine smoke for the next one. Firework smokes were ineffective.
Use more realistic game props.
Closing comments:
Each one of these events I put on is always a learning experiance. I take away from them both the positive and negatives and learn from them. I don't believe a perfect event exists however I try to give you the best I can each and every time.
Lords of war is a multi series event. The next one will be sometime in late 1st quarter of 2011. We will be using multiple black marketers and expand their role to supplying both the axis and allies. We will be using vehicles and expand the usage of props. However it will be a new theme.
I am also moving up my event age to 16+. Anyone under will be by special invite only from either me or sponsored by a established player of this community.
Again thank you very much I greatly appreciate it.
***I have not added up the totals because I have not unpacked my car***
Will add it to this post later today. Mehdi of course won.
