ACOG vs ELCAN

Postby Deathlycobra » Sun Aug 22, 2010 4:13 pm

I wanted to buy either scope for my M4 and was wondering which scope is typically better rated within the community.

Both will reach over the front sight and both will have x4 zoom.

Elcan or Elcan SpecterDR? Unless you get the 1-4x specterDR then it will be similar to the acog but have an illuminated crosshair and will be heavier and bigger.

I've heard good things about Airsoft-Club.

It's totally personal preference.

I'd rather have the acog out of those two.

If weight is a factor you're taking into consideration the Elcans are considerably heavier than the ACOGs are.

You also need to keep in mind how big it is compared to an M4. When put on most assault rifles its kind of like clown shoes. You may or may not like how it looks on the rifle or even care but its something to considerImage

I personally love the look and feel of the NCStar Mark Tactical ACOG style sites. They are illuminated and you can actually get a P4-Sniper Crosshair one for about $65 on Amazon (That's where I got mine :))

I'd vote ACOG for a sopmod look, but it really does come down to preference.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

ELCON= MGO (machine Gun Optic)

I would see no reason to use on unless you were using a weapon that porduces a high amount of recoil.

If you want good eye relief, skip the ACOG's (RS and clones).

I'm not using my ACOG much anymore. Lately, I've been fielding an Aimpoint Comp M2 with an Aimpoint 3x magnifier on a Larue pivot mount. Best of both worlds, red dot for normal airsoft engagement ranges and the magnifier for intel/target ID. And the Aimpoint combo ran about the same $$ as the ACOG.

If you are going the China Clone route, try to get to a retailer who stocks the optics and actually look through them. CC quality is variable, to say the least.
