So, I had my gun repaired at Rogue Military and I had to bring it in three times before it became fully functional. They won't work on it anymore. It still needs some work because my cylinder is cut up on the inside and I'm planning on getting a few upgrades.

Basically, I'm looking for someone in the Medford area who is experienced and can do repairs and installations. I'm thinking about buying a cheapo AEG to mess around with so I can learn how to do some things myself, but for now I just need help finding a new tech.

What Brand/Model is the AEG and what is wrong with it?

It's a JG SR25 but some of the parts and wiring are different. I don't think it even has an SR25 gearbox. Derrick looked at my gun and he said that the cylinder is cut up and that will eventually damage my O-rings and ruin the compression. So I want to replace that and put in a tightbore barrel and maybe replace some plastic parts in the gearbox. Its at 400 fps right now so I'm mainly looking to increase durability, accuracy, and range.

It is working very nicely right now, but I'm not sure exactly how long it will last. I'd like to get a new cylinder in there as soon as possible to avoid having to buy new O-rings, I can do the upgrades later.

SR25 gearboxes are unique, and it wouldn't fit in the body if it was something else. I could stand over your shoulder and tell you what to do.

I have no idea what the gearbox is. I do know that it doesn't have a SR-25 length piston though. Maybe the original piston and gears were replaced... Anyway, most of the parts in the gearbox are actually pretty nice, I just want to replace the cylinder. The one that I have in there right now has a oval shaped hole in the side, is that normal? I saw some that didn't have holes so I don't know. I'm kinda worried that dust will go through my ejection port into the gearbox through that hole, the dust cover thing doesn't close.

It wouldn't be shooting at all without the correct piston. Normal version 2 version 3 pistons are too short for the sector gear to grab them. It'b be chillin inside your cylinder while your gears spun in vain.

A ported cylinder (the hole you're seeing) is normal, depending on your barrel length. The port is not going to break your O-ring over a normal period of use, couple-few years. Besides, O-rings are so dirt cheap I wouldn't worry about ruining one. $2 for a pack of size 14 orings which is the replacement you'd need IF they broke.

Considering your gun IS shooting right now, my advice to you would be not to fix something that isn't broken. Just relax and shoot people with your fully functioning rifle.

I'm not worried about the port breaking the O-rings, the inside of the cylinder has about four cuts along the length of it. I'd rather not have to open up my gearbox and put in new O-rings every month. As for the piston length, it seems to be the standard length but with one more tooth than the one that broke and damaged the cylinder. Rob showed me an SR-25 piston and it was a few cm longer. If my gearbox works with regular-sized pistons does that mean it is the shorter standard type gearbox instead of the longer SR-25 one?
