Inexpensive boots and MARPAT?

Postby FunkyDoucheMan » Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:00 pm

Is there any possible way that I can get some decsent boots for airsoft that aren't around $100? And some descent MARPAT BDUs that arent $45 a piece? (I would pay $100 for a good pair of boots, but my feet seem to be growing like mad and I don't want to buy boots I wont fit in a month later...)

BDU.com has Propper brand Digital Woodland (pretty much marpat) for 33$ a piece.
I've seen some not so good tan boots for around 40$ (rothco I think?)

You can get some mediocre combat boots from Andy and Bax for about 20 bucks, and add an extra 10 to buy inserts to make them comfortable.

I had a tiger stripe uniform from that brand (ultra force). They sucked hardcore. They faded after like 3 or 4 washings from green to grey. They also tore like crazy.

Would you like to know why those boots are so expensive? It is because they are very nice and will protect your feet. Save some damn money and get some Bellevilles.

He already said why : he doesn't want to drop the money for something he's gonna outgrow.
I'd have bought Danners by now if I knew I wasn't gonna grow anymore, so I understand his reasoning.

I've been using an Ultra Force "Marpat" jacket for nearly 2 years now and it has barely faded at all. In fact, it has held its color better than my friend's American Apparel set and my Tru-spec pants. I highly recommend them. I have no experience with their other patterns though, so I can only vouch for the Marpats.

What ^^^ said... Please make helpful posts here (however I understand your pov. on why I should spend more on nicer boots.) and if you arent going to make helpful posts then refrain from posting.

Thank you guys for your help so far! One issue though, Propper marpat looks like some sort of cat diarreah.

What material is the uniform made from? The tiger stripes were made from 100% cotton, which perhaps was the reason for fading and ripping.

Didn't Propper and American Apparel make the MARPATs for the Marines? If that's the case, then Propper should look normal. Mine are TruSpec. Eh, I like 'em. I don't love 'em. The build is pretty good save for a couple details. The material is good. The color is decent.

As for boots, doesn't someone have a factory store in Portland where they sell their seconds for a song?

What about something like this? (Although I would prefer tan boots.)

With any type of footwear, you should definitely go try some on before buying. You may have already known that, but it bears saying.

It's cotton and polyester, and I think the quantities are roughly 50/50, but the label is so faded, It's hard to make out the numbers.
