camouflage isn't about creativity, it is about efficacy.

If the pattern proves to work well then stick with it.

We aren't very creative with our weapons either, I mean how long have we been using a chemical explosive to propel a little piece of metal down a tube pointed at a target?

Yeah, they're still wearing MARPAT, and as far as I know, that policy is not going to change.

Same.

Again, same.

Not for some time. Its going to be in extremely limited use for some time (SeaBees and SEALs are pretty much the only folks who get it), although we may see knock-offs within the next year, but don't hold your breath.

As far as I know, this is actually part of the Navy's effort to reduce the number of Silly Uniforms (Since the Type I NWU replaced utes, coveralls, and a few other command-level things), alongside the new NSU uniform (which replaces the summer working whites and winter working blues, and khakis for chiefs), to make the Navy look more "modern", which seems silly since they're introducing some "retro" uniforms. 1942 called. They'd like their uniforms back.

This essential means that the average male enlisted PO2 would only have, on ship, his NSU, his NWU, his Crackerjacks, and his 13-Chances-To-Change-Your-Mind, rather than his coveralls, his dungarees, his summer working whites, his winter working blues, his winter dress blues, his summer dress whites, and all the random silly bits that go with. 4 uniforms instead of 7.

The sage green boots? I like 'em. ABU looks better with tan boots, which are authorized til 2011, but sage green isn't so bad.

And yeah, ABU is sexy. Only slightly more effective than ACU, but still sexy.

Such a shame I would have never been able to wear the Sage green boots when I was in. They are a little bit more smexy than the black steel toes.

I just got out of the Air Force and the ABU was a huge mistake. For our admin folks it was great, looked sharp, but for those of us that worked outdoors (ie Aircraft Maintenance, Security Forces, CE) it was miserable. I was a maintainer and these would last maybe six months if I was about as cautious as possible. Big mistake... The Air Force is fairly simple... You either fix em or fly em, every body else pretty much works for us, which made the ABU very impractical... Plus the "pen pockets" on the sleeve only added to the "Chair Force" stigma. The Sage Green boots turned to more of a nasty olive after about 1 month of wear. Just my 2 cents but seems like a waste of AF resources.

i agree on the boots and the fact that regardless of how much time you put into keeping them clean they always turn color and start to go to hell. yes its easy not having to shine your boots. but iv gone through 2 sets of boots a year for the last 4+ years with tan’s. with my black boots... i still have my original par from the Army and there still some of my best boots. when they get F&^%ed up all you have to do is add some boot polish, brush it in and forget about it.

No kidding, the black boots were great, and I didn't mind putting in a little effort keeping my old bdu's pressed... the wash and wear ABU's only work if Hydraulic fluid, JP8, Engine oil, soot and DC200 wash out... woodland camo hides everything...

I think we're kind of getting off track, here.

There's a whole boatload of badass, ready to get underway!
