What is holding you back from doing the Nam?

I'm often surprised when people think that a Nam kit is expensive. A person can be completely outfitted with original kit for $200. For $100, they can have a "get me by" kit easy enough as well. The MCHA has deuce gear in stock for members to use, and buy- we also are more than happy to sell it to others who are considering a Nam impression.

Back in the Vietnam war era, they got VC (all green suit with AK), also the Vietnam farmers (VC side, red bandanna tied to the LEFT, green top, shorts, a pair of flip flops & old skool single shot rifle.
Remember, red bandana MUST tie to the LEFT, cheaper than dirt outfit we all can affort

Namsoft isnt' for everyone. However, if you are intested, as sgtlou pointed out, relatively speaking, it's pretty inexpensive to get outfitted as a US GI for a VN Airsoft event. Knowing that many folks don't have complete kits, most of the event organizers don't require you to have a full kit. $60-70 in M56 web gear + some Rothco repros and the M4 most of you already have are enough to get you started on your first event!

After that you can add a few more pieces at each event. An M1 Mitchell here, some Jungle Boots there, etc...

i have put together a NAM era kit and it only cost me about $150 or so. the boots are cheap from rothco, or even the altimas are pretty cheap. get the canvas upper for $65. the gear only cost me $30 altogether, and its all m56 (thats the cotton duck canvas right? i think it is.) the only big choice you have to make is this. nylon gear or canvas? nylon late war gear is easy to find. its the canvas stuff that isn't. at least arround here. the bdu's are 60$ from rothco. if yuo want to go with vc thats easy too. go down and buy some black chefworks pants w/o cargo pocket and roll them up and a black button up shirt from jc penny for $10 and then find yourself an ak and a period chest rig ($25 at your local surplus store). and youre set. or tan or kacki slacks(surplus marine or navy slacks) and a button down tan sirt that matches the color of the pants and the ak chest rig i mentioned earlier and there you go! vc army regular. watch the movie "we were soldiers" those unis were spot on for the most part, for early NAM era.

those of us who are interested in doing historical airsoft, are also more motivated to put on events that are more in keeping with the period.

More props, mission objectives, things to do.

Historical reenacting airsoft isn't for the run-and-gun pogues.

If I got into this I would just bring my grandpa when I went gear shopping, and buy what he wore and get the gun he used.
