Mag Leaking

Postby Raging_Raven21 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 5:57 pm

Ok so ive had problems with me WE TECH 5.0 HiCapa Mag I dropped it on carpet, but when i go to put green gas in it, it leaks from the bottom were i put the gas in. I can fire like 2 shots before it is completely drained and it is soon becoming obsolete, because theres no use for a gun i cant operate and there has been times ive needed that as backup. If you no anyway to fix it ide love it thnx

not necessary usually. the o-ring around the base probably just needs some silicon oil. its a really common problem with the double stack WE hicapa mags.

1. remove the baseplate on the magazine (that little hole where you dont put gas is a plug that holds it on. stick a little screwdriver in there to hold it down and then slide the plate off).
2. unscrew the phillips head screw that you should be able to see now. (make sure there is no gas in the magazine)
3. gently work the base of the magazine off, being careful not to lose the parts from the spring system.
4. see that big o-ring that goes around that magazine plug base you just pulled off? generously lube it up with some 100% silicon oil.
5. repeat process in reverse to reassemble magazine. be careful when you are putting the base back on or the o-ring might not seat in correctly.

that has fixed 95% of the leaky WE hicapa mags that i have done it on.

Yes, buy a new magazine.
GBB pistols are a PITA to deal with..nomatter what brand they are.
I tossed away 2 WA magazines because they leak & couldn't hold the gas; $45 per mag.
Really do treat the mags and the gun like a newborn baby, lube them once in a while, always check the orings and such.
Good luck!

Do you junk your car when the tire starts to go flat?

Seriously, just buy a new inlet valve. Less than $10 most sites, and a whole lot cheaper than a new mag.

I've rebuilt dozens of GBB and NBB mags for all kinds of guns. It's not tough (except the Well MP5K long GBB mags, those suck).

It's just a part of running a gas gun.
Well, you can start a new topic and get flamed for not searching, or you can search and get flamed for necro-posting. It's really your choice...

yea buying a new 40 dollar mag is a smart thing to do, if u got tons of money to waste. Just lube the O ring like beran said, if that doesnt work, than buy a new mag.

What Beran said. I did that when mine was leaking and it works perfectly now.

Also when mags are not in use leave a little gas in there with the silicone oil so that there is pressure to keep everything sealed and the o-ring doesnt get warped.
There are three types of guys in the world, those who read about things, those who watch others do them, and then there are those who have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.

Throw it against a tree.
There's a difference between a person who has a screwdriver and a person who knows what they are doing.

This.

You may want to try adding some Teflon tape if that doesn't fix the problem 100%
