Suggestions on proper way to wear ACU pants w/ boots...

Postby Chachi » Thu Jul 08, 2010 3:35 pm

OK, so this maybe kind of a newb-ish questions, but I just got my first real pair of combat/tactical boots, and I was wondering a couple of things. The boots I got are the Blackhawk Warrior Wear Desert Ops Boots in Coyote Brown as seen here:

What is the best way to wear the pants (ACU cut) with this type of boots? I have done some searching, and some of it seems to be personal preference of course. But, I was curious what the general opinion is on blousing the pants, or even just wearing them down over the boots. I have found a couple of “how toâ€

I've worn both ways, and currently wear them draped around the boots. It's less of a hassle, and (in my opinion) keeps water out better.

Blousing looks good when done right, and can keep your pants cleaner if you aren't trudging through mud up to your knees.

I don't know if it's anywhere near "correct," but what I do is put on socks first, then tie the drawstrings just above my ankles, then put on my boots. Seems like blousing them would keep your feet cooler, but would also allow debris to get in there. My feet never get hot enough to warrant me trying it. Personally, I don't like the look of ACU cut trousers hanging down over boots. Besides that, they could snag on something.
I'm a "fair weather" airsofter. I only play in the pouring rain, freezing cold, or broiling heat.

Cool, thanks Jester. That is how I was wearing them with the other boots I have been wearing, and it seemed to work fine. I was just wondering with a taller boot, if I should think about doing something different. Thank you for the info, it is very helpful!

This. I ran IA with my trousers untucked, sleeves buttoned only somewhat tight, collar open, and blouse untucked. It was wonderful.

I don't think boot-blouse straps are the least bit uncomfortable.
I personally like the bloused look--definitely sharper looking (it's all a fashion show, as we know).

I never blouse my boots and I've been fine.

BTW, great choice with those boots. Mine have been going strong for 3 years now (though I managed to bust one of the laces on it...)

I like the green blousing bands. I put my pants on, put my boots on and tie them, and then put the blousing bands on the boots between the first and second eyelet on the boot. Then I tuck the bottom of the pants into the blousing bands. This works great in garrison environments where pretty counts.

If it is warm and I am in the field, I unblouse my boots (and flip the cuff of my sleeves inside one turn on my shirt).

Blousing.

I had to use the metal ones for a year in my Marine JROTC program before I had the common sense to buy the elastic-like green ones. Blousing looks sharp and there's a technical use for it too. If someone knows it (Former Military) go ahead.
