What to do when you run out of ammo (if you do)

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

At a serious event? When I get through the first six hicaps, I start considering retreating to reload. Wost case, I'll borrow mags from a friend. Absolute worst case? Sidearm.

I'm trying to decide whether to invest in a bunch of M-16VN hicaps (because theyare around 200 rounds) or to pick up a couple more 2500 round box mags.

another box mag and 3 highcaps should be all you need,

I'm running my SAW on an 11.1v LiPo. Eventually, I plan on short-cycling it with a stronger spring. I'm getting over 20 rounds a second now, and will probably end up closer to 40.

I either need to do the high-speed mod to my box mags or just stick with running hicaps. As it stands, I get about 15 seconds of fire and then need to give the box mag another 10 seconds to catch back up. It'll only get worse after I mod the gears.

Flak wrote:My first game at Solomon's Pass I had my teammate post up while I reloaded 2000 rounds worth of magazines literally in the middle of the main village area in the first assault. When I had run out of ammo I held my gun in the air and waved it like a Sand Person.

When I sniped I never ran out. Then again, I never really shot that much; maybe 100 rounds in an entire day tops.

Now when I run out I pull out a realistic looking fake sword I bought when I was a spartan for a halloween once that I strap to the back of my plate carrier, and I charge headlong. I am 1:1 on this strategy so far lol.

didnt you run out of food at that game too?

Why is everyone worried about not shooting 100 rounds in a day? I usually run lowcaps, but I'm considering buying some midcaps to compensate for the amount of ammo I use. Most of my shots aren't on target; they're firing in the general direction of the enemy, or into the cover they're occupying. I do this to keep people's heads down, rather than get kills, so that my fireteam (or battle buddy, depending on the situation) can bound up and achieve the objective.

I don't think about my K/D ratio when I play. I think about how much I benefited my team. Hell, in Iraq and Afghanistan, there are tons of rounds fired for every insurgent killed (citation). This is because out military isn't a bunch of supah-1337 ninjas who get tons of kills by themselves on COD. It's a cohesive group of trained men and women who work together to do what needs to be done.

Don't ever do that, Picking up B's off the ground even if they haven't been used is bad, it will jam your gun (Dirt, grime, Grease, etc).

Honestly, I usually carry a bag of a couple thousand rounds in a utility pouch. Although my team typically has a couple of designated ammo packers that leave bags in pouches on their backs to support the others.

And this is why we love you, Juice. Intelligent, reasoned responses complete with proper citation of sources.

Guys Ive been useing 12 standard low caps on a marui ssystem for about for about 4 years now never ran out and i don' carry extra ammo (dead batts though). Use ur ammo wisely and you wont run out. If you need to learn your lesson go fight on a roof top in fallujah with no resupply for several hours!

I pull out a ninja sword and start hackin some limbs. Naahh I don't have a ninja sword =( But if I run out of ammo or my mag jams on me and I can't use it like at the last game op resurrection. I just ask for a speed loader from a buddy. But if I run out with my main gun I have my glock with an extended mag and a short mag. I also have a grenade launcher. Even though I like too spray and pray sometimes I'm not screwed if i'm out of ammo in my aeg. The key is too use every bit of ammo you have very conservatively and always have 1-3 backups on you maybe more if you know you gonna be in deep shiz.

Where Larp'ing and airsoft converge, eh?

Severe clash of combat styles? Absolutely. Easily worth the extra pound to carry around all day.

Why yes, as a matter of fact I did. Thanks for the Snickers Almond bar, it got me hooked.
