[quote="but you kids said multicam was the way of the future...."]Army Camo Phase IV

And so it begins…well actually it began awhile ago but Phase IV of the Army’s camo program is gaining steam and Natick in conjunction with PEO-Soldier released a Sources Sought Notice yesterday for camouflage patterns. SSD was also able to speak with PEO Soldier’s COL William Cole and LTC Mike Sloane about the situation.

The Army is seeking a family of three different camo patterns including woodland, desert and, transitional (sometime called universal), and one pattern for personal equipment (such as body armor, ammo pouches and rucksacks) which works with all three (3) uniform camouflage patterns. The idea behind the family of patterns is to give Army leaders and Combatant Commanders options. The document goes on to describe a family of patterns as “A family is considered to be of the same or similar geometry with coordinating color palettes to cross the global operating environments. Global operating environments are defined by a geographic classification system that subdivides the global landmasses into areas with similar environmental characteristics.â€

So, they need Woodland Digital, Desert Digital, ACU, and Coyote Tan. Is that what I'm getting?

Fucks sake, I could have told you that.

It must have been Multicam's loss at OP: Thunderstrike that did it in and promoted them to look for something different.

I predict after alot of money is wasted, the Army will probably decide to use Multicam, AOR1 and AOR2. This whole thing could've been avoided years ago. If the Army had not decided to go with a one uniform fits all occassions approach.

I dont understand why we have so many different uniforms for the different branches of the military. Seriously, each branch does not need several camo variants that another branch already has.

Who decides what the army should wear? They are doing a very bad job at it and why do they need phases to test out camo? They are on phase IV and still don't have a picture of what camo they should choose.
