Whatever happened to the AP wiki?

Postby Sleepy » Wed Jun 16, 2010 4:54 pm

Seriously. I haven't checked on it in a while, and I was wondering if it was even still up and running. Is it still functional, or has it gone by the wayside?

My dog wouldn't know what to do with a duck if she caught it, but she's cute. And hates Mexicans. +1!

We should start a new one. This time integrated into AP so folks don't forget about it. I've been thinking about putting together an ultimate guide to mil-sim and Airsoft wiki, some place to store all of the information on common game types, rule sets, load outs, etc.

There was a AP wiki?

I think a history lesson is in order.

I'm pretty sure any active member of a fourm knows that aftermath isn't the best, so that isn't a problem. I say make it open-source for members only. Easy to track who screws around.

That's quite an impressive repository of knowledge there.

There should be a whole section designated for Dimitri and GUNNY to argue...But seriously it sounds like a great idea and would be very helpful for me and others to have all the best information in one (organized) place.

You are not your post count. There are lots of people on the boards with very low posts counts, but play all the time. Just like there are people with thousands of posts but never play.

Airsoft750. Nuff said.

Posts do not amount to respect among AP members.

I think that, when it comes back, it needs to be reminiscent of ARRSEpedia. Very enlightening, but with a healthy load of sarcasm on top. Lord knows the pages for Dmitri, Capt DOA, and myself are going to be vitriol filled haterolls, but thats fun sometimes too.

I agree that posts have nothing to do with RESPECT of the AP community, but an AP wiki would be forum based which the guy I quoted really hasn't been a part of. The guy may have been active game wise but the wiki would take place on the forum which once again the guy has not been a part of.

To summarize my statement: The AP wiki will mainly be edited by people who take a huge part of the community online and respect is earned mostly by people who show up to games.

I'll start comparing some options and see what works best. I would like to keep it as open as possible for editing, but we would definitely need more editors to help thin out the garbage or incorrect info.
