Gas pistol suggestions

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

Postby Partiro » Wed May 19, 2010 4:02 pm

Yeah I heard the WE mags are the biggest pain of owning one. Even though they are cheap they work cheap as well... Any suggestions to where I should buy my pistol? I know AONW has a good selection and its always good to buy local but I kind of want to expand more horizons. Any TM models, KWA/KSC, KJW.etc. that fall around 100-125 would be cool.. I might fork over a little extra just for better quality but some people that have WE seem to be loving it. I might get lucky and not get a lemon.

As for our pistols, we love them. I've used mine, abused mine, and loved mine. Dead reliable, not the gas hogs people claim them to be, full metal, good weight, cheap magazines (and if you maintain them, they stay good). You cannot beat them for the price. You can't even beat them at twice the price, as far as I'm concerned.

Any WE models you would recommend? They make a lot of 1911s, the MEU that comes with 2 mags looks pretty cool but if you think about it, its 2 15+1 single stacks vs 1 30 double stack.. double stack would most likely win and be more durable...

Any of the single stack models come with 2 mags, and I heartily recommend the single stack models.
I run the plain jane GI, but I've definitely been wanting to get a MEU slide for it. Finding holsters for the GI model is easy.

The pearl-gripped model has a squared trigger and is a phony pony finding kydex holsters for. But its pretty. My wife wants one.

The MEUs are nice for a more modern look, and some have rails for easily mounting a light.

My reason for advocating the single stack because of the magazine has only a little to do with capacity, and more to do with pricing.

Lets say you're in a fight. Your magazine goes tits up. If you have a double-stack, you're out 30 rounds for the day, and $35 when you replace that magazine. If your single-stack goes tits up, you're only out 15 rounds, and only $25 to replace.

Also, if you only have the one mag for your hicapa and it goes pear-shaped, you're done. If you run the single stack, you've got that extra magazine. But then, I carry two spare magazines, just because I'm paranoid.

Also, the Hicapa, to me, looks like a race gun, and I don't like that particular look. Thats a personal choice.

WE has always been good to me, 'till it made my 1911 automatic, then they were still good, just confusing at times. I lack the ability to fix it anyway XD just take care of your stuff, but that goes without saying, WE is a safe bet.

It might be that your sears have worn down and are not catching properly

Probably, I just need someone to take a look at it for me that knows more about 1911's and such. It is still rewarding enough to see someones face when they get hosed by auto-Colt fire

Socom Gear MEU is a great gun, good accuracy & great price on second mag. I bought mine from ASGI a year ago with a second mag was about less than $160ish, very good service gun/secondary weapon, but then I sold the whole package for cheap.
Now I have 2 WA GSRs, about $200 per gun & $50 a mag! plastic guns!! but WA has the best looking 1911 in the market, gun kicks hard & loud, super accurate (no hop up). I will bring one to my PLA training on the 22nd ^^

Take this for what it is worth and since it is just my 2 cents ... that's about 2 cents. KWC GBB 1911s are great shooters and CHEAP! You can get 2 for the price of one of the other 1911s. The drawbacks are that they are abs plastic and that they are, as far as I know, only available from Ehobbyasia now(sometimes ebay too.) Also extra mags are rare. There are 3 different styles to choose from follow the links.

Here is what Redwolf Airsoft says about them:
"Solidly built with quick blowback kick. This surprisingly good pistol is accurate and powerful. RedWolf testers were surprised to find that its performance matches pistols of much higher price brackets. This is a full featured GBB! Accurate to +/- 1cm within 15 feet, which is on par with the likes of KSC and WA. Powered by Top Gas, this pistol delivers an astonishing 330fps with 0.2g BBs. The blowback is not all that powerful but the reason is simply because more gas is routed forward to propel the BB than push the slide back. Having said that, the cycling is fast and crisp.
"Excellent value considering the price - this is acceptable as a practice IPSC gun!", says Airsoft Surgeon.

Metal parts include trigger, hammer, silde stop, magazine and barrel... Get a buzz from double-tapping this gun!"

Last time I checked.....Asisa was indeed located overseas :D seriously I recently ordered a KSC glock 18 from uncompany (Hong kong)even with the freight it was less money than domestically. It took 6 days to arrive.

This makes three guns I've seen this with, and since two of them had the exact same issue, more than likely, Solid, its that your trigger sear has worn down. Give AONW a call and see if they can order a replacement one.

Does it runaway fire and just go until the mags empty, or does it only shoot full auto when you hold the trigger down?

I probably won't go with the MEU, too many people have it. I kind of want something unique and big, I like big pistols for some reason because it feels good to shoot for me.
