Why are people hatin' on hicaps?

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

I just don't see the appeal of using High-Cap mags for Mil-Sim play. At a Skirm, I could deal with it. But wouldn't love it. Personally I would only use high-Cap mags if I was running a super light kit.

I carry 1000 rounds in mid-caps on me.
I have more than enough ammo to waste whenever I feel like it and not have to reload everytime i go to spawn.
Mid-caps aren't mil-sim.

I don't see the benefit of High-caps except to carry less gear and mags.

Not trying to derail the topic but the biggest problem I have with mid caps is the quality of the speed loaders. Is it me or do they all suck???

Here we go again! ;)
If you "dont feel like reloading" it sounds like you "dont feel like playing" IMO.

It's like getting into a basketball game but saying "Hey guys, I dont feel like dribbling today, so lets not". You're not playing basketball at all at that point.

While I mostly agree with you I think what he means is sitting at respawn topping off magazines. It is a lot quicker to just open up a high cap and pour in a bunch of bbs.

I'd love to see midcaps that could be loaded as quickly and easily as high caps.

I guess the only Skirm i've ever used a high cap in was when i took my GF, her brother, there cousin, Ben and I up to my farm to shoot each other.

But i liked the simplicity, a lot of games get started late because people are loading there mids and getting gear on. For small skirms (Like what i was talking about) high caps are great, just dump and shoot, and you have a lot of fun.

Dont get me wrong, most people use mid caps for there main mags, and a high cap for a back up, i use real caps as my mains and a mid cap as a back up. : )

I don't think it's the gearing up and loading up aspect that makes games start late, but instead it's the socializing/ass-grabbing that does it.

Simple solution: ban all pre-game socializing.

Problem solved, all games will now start on time.

I accept thank yous in the form of cash or handies.

i have no problem with hi-caps really but i think they should only be used on replicas that they would normally go on the real gun what i don't like is not being able to reload in the hot zone in the military you don't see someone running to hq to reload instead of getting behind cover and getting done nice and quick

Wait did you just say that the military uses high caps?

I was in the Marine Corps for a few years, and I don't remember seeing any high cap mags.

Maybe only the Delta-Ranger-Recon-SEAL-snipers get them.

mainly Rangers or Delta but they use high-caps on SAW's and other weapons like it and usually not the U.S. but high caps are common in russia, china, and a few European nations but if you where using a g36 model or scar or most assault rifle replica's you wouldn't have a high-cap

HAHA WOW. Well back on top, I have always used High-Caps in the last 3 years I have been airsofting and used MidCaps for the first time yesterday and I have to say, they are amazing! I didn't have to worry about constantly winding and always knew when I was out of ammo. I just hate it when I go to charge a position and my High Cap isn't feeding cause it had to be wound, didn't have any of those problems with the MidCaps

I think you fail to understand the difference between a box mag and a high cap.

box mags on SAWs are rather heavy, so yes you get a lot more ammo, but you have to lug around a lot of extra weight.

The Beta C mags for M4s were tried but found to put too much stress on the mag release because of all the additional weight as well as being unreliable when it came to actually feeding rounds.

bullets weight quite a bit more than bbs so carrying more rounds means carrying more weight.

There is a reason that only 1 man in each fire team carries a SAW. Don't you think if all that extra firepower came with no downsides that all infantrymen would be equipped with them?
