Mil-Sim v.s. Other

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

I'm not a fan of blank firing weapons on the field in any capacity. They sound, um, "distinct?" when compared to arty, arty sims, flash bangs, flash bang trainers, firecrackers, or what have you.

Aside from the easily mitigatable safety issues (BFAs, two-man mag verification, pat-downs for live ammo), they make my lizard hindbrain twitchy as all hell, because it knows damn well that mine only shoots pellets, and remembers what it was like on the other end of the muzzle. This causes me to be less than gruntled.

Knowing that blanks will be fired at an event is something that will make me strongly consider avoiding an event. Not knowing that blanks are going to be fired at an event would lead me to be incredibly unhappy if I found out on the field.

I couldn't agree more. There are plenty of ways to simulated decibel levels above that of blanks, without having real steel on the field. I do agree with manicottii however about the medic facet of games. Respawn rules are somewhat dicey. "So you trek around the entire side of this hill, get on top and clear it the whole way down, but then oh crap!! they are going to be on my 6 in 60 seconds". It would be hard though to ask someone to pay $10-$35 to lay there in the field and wait for a medic that may or may not come. The medic would have to be very good at what they do to complete this theme correctly.

I am willing to pay up to 30$ for a usual "airsoft event" no more. And have spent up to 175$ for a mil-sim experience just for entry. The truth is I enjoy both and have spent the minimum amount for shit to be in the mil-sim club so I am able to do both. But when it boils down "just shooting people" dosnt do it for me anymore, I need structure and realistic objectives with a clear and skilled command element, not the idiot that yells "move forward!" into the com with out knowing any of the situation details. Having midcaps only and it actually be enforced would put icing on the cake. Not that shooting at a guy in jeans and tenis shoes and a tiger stripe jacket on that only calls his hits if its in the face and then bitches about it isnt fun, midcaps only seams to get rid of that crowd.
So theres my .02 cents.

I have heard about one game type;
One man in your team suppose to be a trader, you don't know who that is, and he will start to shoot people anytime on the road.
A must find out who the trader is, or everyone will be a goner before hitting the enemy's line.
another type is; limited ammos. 100rds nomatter what, shoot and think smart, no spray & pray.

Oh, you mean, "traitor." Confused me for a minute. Twice in one thread I've been confused.

This.

Imagine Leo's responding to an airsoft field with game in play....

There's a huge difference between stating that these are ALL "airsoft/toy guns on the field"
...or trying to explain...
"well, those guns over there are all airsoft, but some of those guns over there are real steel firing blanks."

Personally, i'd rather just avoid any situation that invites RS onto the field.
