The way i understood hit calling is pretty simple...
~Don't cheat (hey stupid, it's a game of honor, right?)
~Hit to your gun doesn't count
~Hit via ricochet doesn't count
Pretty simple, yeah, but would you call a hit if someone 'should' be able to hit you, even though their bb's can't make it through your cover?
Specifically, this is what makes me question the 'right' thing to do...
[long-winded]
While playing at a field whis weekend & making a run for the flag some
guy(s) opens up on me from a secure bunker. i dove for the only cover, belly down, behind a thin tree with what i'd best describe as a huckleberry bush around the base.
Even though i can see the guy shooting at me, and he can definitely see me, his bb's were being deflected by all the thin, loose brush. After a couple sprays he yelled at me to call my fawking hits.
Now, anyone who has played with me knows that i'm in this for all the fun of it, and don't really have that competitive cheater mentality. If i don't feel the shot, but you say it hit, then i'll happily give you benefit of the doubt and walk to respawn. No worries.
In this case though, i'm practically looking right down his barrel, and he's got no part of me to hit except my trigger finger and forehead, so i know damb well no bb's are hitting me.
In hindsight, it was a pretty chickenshit place for me to take cover, but not like i had much choice. It was totally one of those "OMFG take cover!" moments, lol.
So, what do you guys do? It only takes a little twig to deflect a 6mm bb...do you just make a point of avoiding those 'chickenshit' places to seek cover? Should i have just said i was hit because he had me in his sites but his bb's couldn't break through? What's the correct thing to do in this situation. [end/long-winded]
Thanks in advance to whoever stayed awake through my story and has advice.
