WE 1911 mag issues

Postby Stalker » Tue Apr 06, 2010 6:28 pm

Hey guys I have an issue with my WE 1911 single stack pistol and mag.
recently the mag has been sticking/ fitting extremely tight. i thought I had cleaned it off well enough. Could this be from dust on the field? or any ideas for a fix, cleaning helps, but not much.

thanks

Sounds like you are a victim of mag swell.

If you can't squeeze it back into the right shape, you might need new magazines.

IIRC someone talking about TM compatibility with the WE but not the other way around.

From my experience the WE 1911 mags seem to expand a little, a couple people I know have sanded them to fix the problem.

about half my WE 1911 mags have done this. you can avoid it by keeping only very little gas in your mags during storage (just enough to keep pressure on the seals, maybe a half second charge). ive heard of people fixing it by banging it with a hammer (not recommended) or carefully pressing them in a decent flat sided vice.
