Lipo + Traveling question

Postby Abe » Sat Apr 03, 2010 9:01 am

So as always i am going to Alaska for about one month, but this time I want to bring my KWA to show the family and friends.

My two main questions are.

1. Is it okay to travel with a lipo battery? I read a few things about traveling with them and that you should take some extra caution when doing so, but I wanted to ask AP.

2. I am planning on mailing these (plus a few other items) to Alaska, the only main thing I would need is to have the orange tip on, yes?

Would there be anything else you all could recommend me doing before mailing?

Thanks.

Abe

Make sure the battery is charged and in a separate zip lock plastic bag and you could mail it or I would have it packed in your bags but again in a zip locked plastic bag.
THat is the way I was able to ship my Lipos back from over seas.

If you have a lipo sack, or some kind of fire box, I would ship in that.

Yup, keeps fire in, while venting at the same time to not build up pressure....if you have a catastrophic lipo failure:

Batterys that are shipped from overseas are usually heavily wrapped in bubble wrap.

Thats nearly $35 with shipping :!:
You can get them for around $5-$10 with free shipping on ebay, search for "lipo sack".

FYI ebay says this is the cheapest one:

Rule number one of buying batteries and battery related products: don't buy from airsoft sites unless you like inflated prices.

In regards to the OP, you should be fine just wrapping it thoroughly in bubble wrap. Very thoroughly.
