Look guys it is always easier to beat someone up over a couple of issues than it is to do something this involved yourself. It is one of the worst things about this community's personallity and I myself have been apart of it.
A business owner deals with approx. 100-1000 issues per day. None of us are perfect. Is there room for improvement, of course. Did Jason need to make a personell change and now pay for quality admin/staff, yes. Does it sound like there was an avoidable and unacceptable breach in safety, hell yes. Did he say he is trying to fix it, yes. If they dont fix it and keep an eye on the safety issues should it be shut down, yes as well. But let's give them the chance to correct the problem.
I challenge those who bash other hosts with the same challenge I got when I was bashing a game host...We have a field, you put together your opinion of the perfect game, staff it and let's see what happens. Any takers? Any of you have the perfect game/arena in your back pocket. Can any of you provide a perfect staff every day for every possible occurance? So I suggest to those of you who have never built and ran a LEGAL business but yet continue to talk out your a$$, try it before you crucify someone for doing a 90% job. At least they have insured the place and have proper zoning, instead of saying "our insurance allows any FPS we want", remember CAGE and how well that went for Darius? Where were you when this statement was made? Is it because you know/liked the guy running the show that you looked the other way? This is very hypocritical and I know because we smell our own. I too have been hypocritical.
Also we should remember that this is TAC TAC's first year in operation.
Have any of you ran a perfect game even once? Or had a string of perfection in any other complicated endeavor ever in your lives? I know I haven't, Iron Anvil was close but not perfect
If you can do it better then DO IT and show the world your awesomeness.
My suggestions to Hellmutt and TAC TAC:
1. Chrono everything, be strict.
2. Listen to your customers opinions with humility. I know you have been running games for a long time now and have probably heard just about everything but this is mission critical to a successful business.
3. Pay for a first class staff or your business will tank. You said so yourself that you've had almost 1500 players in 6 months. At an average of 15 per head (your stated admission for a block of time) this equates to more than 20,000 in income. Thats approx 3300 a month, how much is your lease? How much are your utilities per month, your insurance for a year? You should be able to afford a qualified admin or two...
4. Look into a different insurance carrier. There are plenty that will allow up to 350 fps indoor. Buy this insurance and set your fps limit at 330. This will allow more players to utilize their out of the box equipment, thus opening up your market to a larger player base.
I offer these opinions as suggestions from someone who has been on both sides of the coin and as somone who is personally responsible for over 8 million dollars worth of successful businesses every day. Take it as you will Jason.
