OP DETAILS

Back to basics, fellas! (and ladies) Operation Thunder Strike is a 2-sided force on force combat operation, pitting 2 US companies against each other. Alpha Company (in MARPAT) and Bravo Company (in MULTICAM). Uniform requirements are specific for ease of target identification. There's no exceptions to those requirements, if you don't have the necessary camo pattern you cannot participate in the event. Both of these patterns are widely available in real and knock-off form, and can easily be bought or borrowed of need be. OP Thunder Strike focuses on squad tactics and combat - there will be no simulated aircraft, no admin kills, no elite special forces, no complicated rule sets to remember, no codes to crack or boxes to carry across the field - just you and your company against another company of highly motivated and organized infantry.

When you sign up for OP Thunder Strike, you will be assigned to a platoon and a squad. You will be expected to work with that squad as much as possible during the duration of the OP. We will try our best to keep existing teams together. Sign your team up as a group to keep the same platoon or squad assignment. We know this is all about fun - leadership means we understand how we can win and work together to achieve that, it has NOTHING to do with standing behind people and screaming at them to move.

When was the last time you were at an OP where 3 squads of 12 folks got on the line and rolled the enemy? Doesn't happen very often does it? Come join us for OP Thunder Strike, and let's find out what happens when we work together a team. Company Commanders are already chosen - all you have to do is choose you who you want to serve under. Both of us are actively seeking platoon leaders and squad leaders to help out.

In case anybody is still confused.

Nope. 36 per platoon. We have 3 platoons per side. For a total of about 113 vs 113 if you count the sniper/spotters and company commanders. It's not a limit, just a template. But I am not expecting that many folks, especially with these restrictions. I'm totally ok with that, going for quality over quantity here. 120 would be comfortable, a couple platoons per side, field wouldn't be too crowded. We'll see what happens!

We will post a BBQ RSVP thread just like the last game as the event draws near.

I might offer the same items as I previously have or I might do something different.

Just trying to figure out the numbers for how this will work out because typically you have a fire teams of 4.
    3 X fire teams(4) + 1 squad leader = squad(13)
    3 X squads(13) + 1 Platoon commander(I'm assuming there won't be any other staff) = Platoon (40)
    3 X Platoons + 1 Company Commander + 2 snipers = Company(123)
Or with Army style squads
    2 X fire teams(4) + 1 squad leader = squad(9)
    3 X squads(9) + 1 Platoon commander = Platoon (28)
    3 X Platoons + 1 Company Commander + 2 snipers = Company(87)

And obviously there won't be a weapons platoon since it doesn't really serve much purpose in airsoft.

My numbers are based on the Marines definition of a squad. 12 man squads, 3 squads per platoon. And I count my squad leaders as part of that 12. Like I said, it's just a template, not a cap. If, for some crazy reason, we need more people we can always throw on a 4th squad in a platoon.

Marine Corps squads are actually made up of 13 people each. The squad leader is not a member of the 3 fire teams.

It's just a little nit picky detail, not a big deal.
