AIRSOFT PACIFIC: SERE
Survive – Evade – Resist – Escape

Image

AP SERE is designed to be a free training / Mil-Sim event that spans from a Friday evening to Sunday evening. This is not a competition; it is for team building and an opportunity for a mil-sim experience. Teams decide when and where they would like to hold the event, and invite the rest of the AP community to participate as OPFOR. Hosting teams will receive an AP SERE patch upon completion ($2.99/each).

Team Rules:
Teams of 6 or more may fill out the attached form with the required information to hold their SERE event.
In order to participate, you must commit to return as OPFOR for another teams event.

Team member bust be 18 or older, or accompanied by a legal guardian. Teams should submit the form to info@airsoftpacific.com at least 30 days before the event. AP staff will create the event on the AirsoftPacific.com calendar.

The team will choose from the available areas and AP staff will choose a start point and end point. The team can choose the start and end dates/times.

The team will deploy at the given start point at the chosen time and begin their mission. The team will need to provide their own transportation and have a vehicle at or near their end point.

Goals:
• Get to your end point in the allotted time
• Avoid detection
• Minimize casualties
• Create a kit using minimal gear that is multi-purpose, light, fast
• Live on minimal gear for 48 hours
• Practice teamwork

• Be safe
• Have fun

Hits:
You do not die in training. If you are wounded (arm and leg hits) your team needs to stop and field dress the wound before you can move or fight. If you are mortally wounded you should die in place, and re-spawn back to your team when it does not interfere with the game-play. If the entire team is eliminated, they should wave red dead rags and displace 100-200 yards beyond the combat area.

Simulated Medical Aid:
In addition to a real first aid kit, the team should have a mock first aid kit consisting of gauze, quick clot simulator, etc. This is part of the mil-sim, and the level of realism is up to the team.

Gear Requirements:

This sounds great, I will have to talk to the rest of P.S.C. But I'm sure we will want to attend.

i think the jist is, that the team doing the SERE training is HOSTING the game. correct? and the other teams provide the OPFOR.

sounds like a blast, with alot of training value.

for sure ill participate.

P.S. just a point of mention, this sounds more like a escape and evasion, what is the survival part? now if you said no matches or fire starters of any kind, then people might be tasked with firemaking in order to boil water. sure i am sure someone will bring MRE's and not need it, but its the most important survival skill there is.

maybe you should have some elements in this that reflect that part of the accronym. like make a fire and boils 1 liter of water to a rolling boil, show proof of firemaking and water purification, then move on to the next station or whatever.

just a thought.

I totally agree with you Morgan. I limited the backpack size to encourage people to be picky about the things they bring. MREs take a lot of space, and may not be the best for option for this.

Things like tents and sleeping bags also are too big to fit in a medium sized pack, so there is a small element of survival there.

I wanted to make the rules pretty open so that teams could choose how intense they wanted to make their experience. I encourage teams to pack as little as possible if they want a more intense experience.

Teams should plan well in advance and learn orienteering, shelter making, fire building, etc. Keep in mind, that if you set up camp and you are attacked, you may not have time to pack up your gear before you have to bug-out.

Remember the "survive" in SERE refers to staying alive. Normally pilots go through this training, in their flight vest is a small survival kit (matches/fire starter kit, rope, water, fishing kit ect). The course teaches you to take what you need to stay alive... BTW every "student" that goes through this course gets caught and now must resist..and attmept escape if possible.

If you're going to go to war against a major enemy, go; knock the hell out of him fast, and go in there to kill him and get it over with.

When you say "resist" I know you don't mean any physical contact.
