Yeah, don't wear a 'cappi blank' . . . . . . . because its spelled Képis blancs ;)

What about his NCO's and Officers, Morgan? Are you going to say they shouldn't wear a Red Kepi with a Dark Blue band?

;) I really don't see it as any more of an insult to the Legion, than say . . . . a non-marine wearing issue MARPAT is . . . . . .

An airsoft impression is just that - an impression. The context is an impression and not an impersonation. And of a foreign military to boot.

On the other hand, wearing US insignia can be different outside of an airsoft game venue...

Me at 16 years old on post at Ft. Lewis, wearing civvies with a jungle jacket, completely tabbed out airborne, ranger, jump wings, etc etc:

Grizzled veteran: "Where did you get your jump wings?"

Me the snot nosed kid: "um, AAFES." (That's the Post Exchange).

Grizzled veteran, expecting that I would have said where did I EARN my jump wings (like at Benning): A look of complete and utter contempt.

Me the snot nosed kid: Feeling 2 inches tall.

Grizzled veteran: "You might not want to wear that around here. Guys that earn those (pointing at all my high speed insignia) might not like you wearing it if you didn't earn it." Duh.

And I never forgot that. I could also tell by his ribbons that he'd been to Vietnam. His CIB and 9th ID patch on his right shoulder told me he had seen combat. Lucky I didn't get my a$$ kicked. Or get scooped up by the MP's.

Live and learn... ;)

Ok well I am military, have been for a bit now. Well aware of the stigma of the "Képis blancs" (BTW means white hat if my french doesnt suck that bad.). It would be like showing up wearing a Green Beret with SF flash if your not SF. I was planning on wearing there modern uniform without any body armor (that would be ungodly hard to find)

Sir I do have a FFL kit, I play with Filforce here in the NE. I've spent so much money on this kit :french: I would love to put this in good use! I think it will be awesome to have a team mate with same loadout as I am.

Foreign Legion Team eh?

Not a bad concept since in my mind the FFL is the only French Fighting Force worth giving a shit about.

What kind of gear would be mandatory for the Team? In all of the Soldier of Fortunes I've seen it's pretty basic stuff, nothing too high speed.

OD Fatigues
OD Beret
OD Alice Gear (H or Y Harness compatible with belt and pouches)
Black boots
And of course the classic Famas

I'd love to roll on a team like that but getting a structure down for it might be a little troubling. Unless of course it's just a friendly get together which would be cool too.

Though giving your teamates an Op-Order in French would make my blood boil. ;)

Good luck!

I saw French special forces in Afghanistan. They were pretty high speed.

Yes, perhaps. But they were not the Legion I'm assuming. And I'm willing to bet that they were either on some silly O.P. or they were sweeping a road.

Nothing too high speed there.

Sorry about the zombie post I just didnt want to start a new thread. First a small update.

I had no time to even get started on this stuff because 5 months after we got back to the states my unit got deployment orders yet again. Fun Fun.

But since iraq is dieing down (I can speak from experience this deployment is nothing like the old days) we are anticipating have some time back in the states (we just did two back to back deployments to iraq). So I might actually have time for this project.

So if anyone is interested please send me a PM or email me at derrick.cochran[at]gmail[dot]com

Once again if I find interested players than I will start setting everything up for a team. Otherwise the wife (household 6) has already given me the go ahead to start buying my own stuff.

I was wondering what happened to this. Cool, having the legion run around these parts would be damn cool.

Well, let's just say this:
It has a version 1 gearbox.

That's right, VERSION ONE. UNO. It's the first AEG TM ever made, and why? who knows. I have heard both good and bad about it, from "it's a bullet hose," to "It's as creaky as your mother's bedroom door." Not really that second one, but I have heard that it can get quite creaky.
