I have a few irons in the fire with the county right now. So one iron WILL get us back on track with some small get togethers, the other is the longer wait of the two, but when it works out it will be worth waiting for. What PMs?
Shoot ya, I mean c-ya later Couch

I'm just curious. The surrounding properties around your field, are there residences or developments, or even plans for some sort of development, around you?

Think of it this way. You've got a couple hundred acres of pristine wilderness that would be perfect for a little community of rich bastards who will pay the better part of a million dollars for the feeling of being in the woods, even though they wouldn't know what to do with a hiking trail if it bit them three times on the nose.

Trouble is, there's some neighbors who party ALL NIGHT, and run around SHOOTING EACHOTHER. You'd never sell a single house if the day of an open house, some KID shot out someones window. So, file a complaint with the county and get it shut down. Simple.

Just wondering. Conspiracy theory, as it were.

Media

Are you the Media? I think it might make a great human interest story. I would much rather hear "Local Kids back on the street after Airsoft field closed down" than Read about Tiger woods affairs.

Sadly, the story that the media would see here is "a victory for the people, because scary folks with fake guns aren't running around in the woods anymore."

Grown men playing war in the woods is not something that mainstream society is entirely comfortable with. The media still slants stories about the much more camera-friendly paintball to show it as dangerous and / or evil. Real camo, realistic AEGs, and something that outsiders could construe as realistic tactics, and the next thing you know, airsoft is painted as just another junior militia movement full of whack jobs and crazies.

Local folks getting told that they cannot enjoy their reenactment sport doesn't generate sales of newspapers. Hearing about how local authorities have shut down a potential militia / domestic terrorism recruiting site, on the other hand, shows up on the six o'clock news.

I'm not a fan of allowing the mainstream media anywhere near our activity.

That's not a media source. It's an airsoft blog. Airsoft blogs =/= mainstream media.

Hmm. This is what I find from the local media about airsoft.

http://www.koinlocal6.com/search/sitesearch.aspx?q=airsoft
- No results found

http://www.kptv.com/search/form.html?la=en&stories=on&video=on&client=pub-1569153127812452&forid=1&channel=5146257330&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&hl=en&cof=GALT%3A%23000000%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A%23336699%3BVLC%3A000000%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BLBGC%3A336699%3BALC%3A0000FF%3BLC%3A0000FF%3BT%3A000000%3BGFNT%3A000000%3BGIMP%3A000000%3BFORID%3A11&sitesearch=kptv.com&mkt=&heading=&qt=airsoft&x=16&y=4
- Hmm. Nothing positive.

http://search.katu.com/default.aspx?ct=r&q=airsoft&x=20&y=9
- Again, nothing positive.

http://www.kgw.com/results?search=site&keywords=airsoft
- And, finally: Nothing positive.

Seems like the local media is not going to be a positive source for this. Scrounge and X seem to have a plan in place, I think that they are doing it the right way. Agitating in the media seems like it would do more harm than good.
