Just thought of a cool team idea.

Post announcements about your team here, recruiting, brag about your website, or ask about how to join teams.

You can throw filters on your lenses for protection, but with a well placed shot from a high FPS AEG or sniper rifle it won't make much difference. Plus you can also damage other parts of your camera like the LCD display and the viewfinder.

As far as effecting picture quality, just think of putting a $2 piece of glass in front of a $200 lens

What about modding a camera? Take one of the smaller, yet still effective video cameras, and build a hardened outer shell for it, so it looks like one of the ones that the embedded reporter teams carry?

Additionally, it would be kind of neat to see a team out on the field lugging around pelican cases until they get to decent cover, and then frantically pulling cameras, mics, and lights out from their cases to do a piece while under fire.

The team concept seems to gel a little better in my mind if you include the crew in your team concept. A couple of camera guys, a talking head, a sound guy, a commo tech, and a bunch of apes with guns who try to stay out of frame while keeping the weather girl from getting gapped. Oh, and a military 'advisor' from whatever faction you are supporting, looking distinctly out of place in something resembling a dress uniform, but with 30 pounds of ribbons, braid, and sash. And maybe a sabre. And a gold-plated desert eagle.
