This is, of course, all personal opinion.

We're not a team, we're an Army.

The term team is for groups that hang out at pizza parlours and get matching bowling shirts with their names on it, vying for plastic trophies.

PLA wears matching blue shirts, no?
PLA makes a huge deal about "winning" the OPs they play at (some of which included plastic trophies).

I guess you're not considered a team because you don't hang out in pizza parlors, then.

Well, I have to say that I had pretty good time at the Op - BSP pulled another one off beautifully.

We arrived late due to some navigation problems finding the place (no sign), but after setting up camp we were able to cruise around and meet up with some of the other folks from Axis and figure out the game plan. Due to the rain and a leaky tent I was forced into Shortfuzes car to sleep and I have to say that out of all the Op's I have attended, that was the best night's sleep I had ever had before game day.

It was great meeting all of the guys on PLA and the gents on the Russian Forces. Sadly I found out Saturday morning that I had an inguinal hernia so I wasn't able to run the field like I usually do so I ended up losing the group I was supposed to command - they fostered ahead like good Russians should, and killed everything in sight. I still had Ranger Poe and my sniper Ron being my eyes and ears on the field when I couldn't be there so I got very good intel from them - thank you gentlemen :)
I have to apologize to Darius and the Russians I wanted to command - I thought I was ready to lead a large force but due to inexperience, the injury and lack of knowledge of the field, I was slow on the draw and became ineffective. Also, I lost my safety glasses and had to use mesh goggles and became a liability because of 2 team kills (how do you people see through those things?!) I'll stick to the grunt forces next time :)
I had a good time, the game kicked my a$$ and I woke up with leg cramps last night, which is telling me to get off my a$$ and move more.
Bill and crew, keep up the good work!

I have to say it was great meeting Darius, Chef, Pickles, Moshpit, seeing Poe and his spotter again, and seeing others I had met already.
As soon as I get patched up I'll be ready for another Op up there and hopefully it'll be in time for the next Conflict Europe :)

Sorry to hear that.
Also I think a big reason you lost control was when we respawned we were standing next to Dan so we just got orders directly from the top.

Wow.

Jeesh, you all know that this is just a game, right? Great drama, though! Sounds like you all had fun. It was raining on me, too. My buddy, his kid, and I ended up with the following picture. Season closes at the end of the month, though, so "I'll be back."

Take that and shove it up your goat head!

...where might one aquire said bowling shirts?

I tried looking some bowling shirts up in multicam, but my abilities have failed me. :(

Well thats good to hear - I'm just glad someone was able to issue orders rather than everything breaking down into a melee. I had my fair share of respawning, planning on where to go and getting a "You! Go this way, we need you!" so I feel you :)

We wear Fancy Shirts. Those are way different.

Winning isn't our big deal. PLA's "Big Deal" is training events and providing events as cheap as possible. This doesn't make us the best trained, as we primarily take the new players who may not have the airsoft experience or money to buy crye multicam or issued marpat or spell everything correctly.

PLA is about inclusion, and training new players. The only people they really call "apes" are established teams that usually are the first ones to jump on board with 2 pages of ridicule at a new person's post after they mispelled three words.

It's unfortunate that this extended to Mithril, as they were never involved in that.

But I have to go watch a few episodes of Highlander. I'm done in this thread. It's just here to amuse people who like Drama. I'm surprised Nocte even said anything out loud. Usually he's quite nice in person or to my face, but has a tendency to say this stuff elsewhere and out of earshot. I guess all this tomfoolery made him feel it safe enough a location to squeak out an opinion. And Karma will be Karma--100 lbs. of teenager that likes to argue on the internet or correct people's grammar and make new players not want to get into airsoft.

Long story short: PLA is using this game as a learning experience, and will use it as a chance to be a better team. We're new, and we're not perfect, and it was about time we got our asses kicked so we can work on improving ourselves even more.

The game was good. It had a few glitches, which were addressed, as was what could happen next time to make the game better next time. PLA won't be attending as a "clusterfuck" at this field for the immediate future.

It was a pleasure commanding the Axis side. I felt like I did a horrible job, but I've got my list of things to work on, just like everyone else on PLA. DRAT, Fragistan, 172 ROTA, OSK, Ghost's, Reapers, 808th and all the other teams out there performed brilliantly despite some setbacks and gameplay working against us.

Our issue was also that a lot of troops wouldn't take commands, especially Woodlanders.

And every time I sent out reinforcements. I'd send 6-8 somewhere, and 1 would show up. The others either died, or just went where they damn well pleased.

At least twice when I was leading squads to backup one of our offenses, I would turn around and notice that of the five guys that had left the command post with me, maybe one was still following me. Nonetheless, I think we (axis) were fairly well coordinated. What I saw of the NATO troops (mostly I saw them about half a second AFTER dying) was a lot of very good coordination, they moved in groups, and stuck together.

i am P.L.A, i havent said anything or done anything to offend anyone here on this forum, so why is it that even after Dan said the goat thing was on him, you tear up the rest of us? i have just done the best i could to be cool with everyone i meet both in the forums and on the field. i respect your different stand points and i respect you all as players, i just would ask that we get over this and move on. i cleaned all my camping shit and will do so next time i camp for an event. i doubt any of you were truely effected by this so again lets move on to more positive things! 8)

I was just pointing out a discrepancy in what you said to what I observe.

It appears to me (and possibly others) that you ridicule teams for wearing the camo pattern they like, and training for the indoor competitions that they like. You ridicule teams that take their hobby seriously in the ways they enjoy, but defend your own team using the same rationale: it's what we enjoy, we're training the way we want to, we're wearing fancy shirts because we like them and they're sexy, etc. It makes you look hypocritical, bud.

The 'ape' thing did get out of hand, and I was one, for a time, to defend its innocence and chalk it up to misunderstanding of a joke (even after the funny was beaten out of it by Elliott). After a while, the hypocrisy got to a point that the hurt feelings generated by the 'ape' comments continued to be taken personally, because there was little effort made to show that PLA was much more than a team of mouthy youngsters and forum trolls.

Dan, I think at heart, your idea of inclusion is fantastic, especially for those just getting into the hobby. I think that mentality of inclusion and acceptance needs to extend to those already on established teams, even if you think some of the ways those teams play the game is silly.
