4100 Lumen Light

Postby Steve » Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:01 am

Not sure if anyone else has seen this yet, but ThinkGeek is offering a 4100 lumen rechargeable flashlight.

Yes. 4100 lumens.

They use it to scramble eggs, light matches, and ignite paper.

HOLY CRAP.

Too bad about the run time or that'd be really sweet. ;)

The price is a bit high for what is basically an electric heater.

15 minute run time? Peak output has to be about 15-20 seconds. While I wouldn't use it for airsoft (unless we had a game requiring players to wear welders masks), it'd be fantastic for defensive use (home and self). I might have to get one once I start getting paid again.

Would be great in theory, but I think 4100 lumens would throw a LOT of light back at you. Especially in a hallway, small room, etc.

But then again, I don't think Halogen would throw back as much light as LED's do, so I guess this is one of those useless posts. :D

Would be fun to try, though. Barbecued bad guy.

If that theory worked, I could carry one at work. :)

Indeed it would throw a lot back. It might give you some vision spots too, but certainly not of the sort you'd get if the beam caught you dead in the face.

I'm wondering if this is really a halogen light and not one of those HID arc bulbs.

I need to get two of these for my double flash light RIS mount. Chris Costa will be proud.

What kind of damage would one of those to the face cause...?
