over 1000 mile drive = too far for me to play in the desert.

We can host a way better game here.
And we will.

SB_[)E@DLY wrote:Dude, you're right stay home because with your attitude I can't think of anyone that I know that would want to fight with you but plenty that would love to shoot you...
SB_Deadly - a couple things in response (I know, I shouldnt give him the dignity of a response, but I feel a response is warrented).

1 - Taking a quick look across the responses here - Something, I dont know exactly what, but something tells me that I am not the only person that has my attitude. As you are not a local, I suppose I might forgive you.

2 - Having organized up a game or two in my time, I suspect that you are not an official promoter of this event - becasue of your responses. See, its not considered honourable here to shoot people that you are not engaged in combat with. Something about "Assault" laws, and just being known as an asshat and drummed out of the community. It is considered, at the least, to be bad form to shoot at people outside of games. Your little comment of "I can't think of anyone that I know that would want to fight with you but plenty that would love to shoot you... " shows a definate lack of maturity.

3 - California is far from the only place that we, here in Oregon, can go and play in the desert. We even have abandoned buildings out there.

4 - Hell, lets go with the "Oh, but what about the guys who want to participate in a 'big' game?" - Im not knocking the people who would throw down the money to go to Lion Claws 5. I am saying that we have plenty of 'big games' here. Hell, there was what . . . . 188 in attendance at "Grid 18", in pouring down rain and mud over our ankles. If we can get 188 motovated people to come out for that, I bet we could get 300 to a 'big game' put on up here - and it wouldnt cost anywhere near as much.

Here, I'll lower myself down to your immature little level. You might understand what I am saying a little better "Listen here you little commie pinko, monkey cockbreath, piss off now, you hear?"

Hell I bet in a year or So Danny and Mad Max will be on our forums wanting to come to our OPs.

When you can Pull 188 people to play in bad weather with no prizes and no technicals...

Just wait.. It wont be long before californians are bitching on there forums about the 1000 mile drive to the northwest for an OP. But at least they wont have to pay the steady increase in price that LC is offering.

I don't care if jesus is my Fireteam leader, If I get to play he is not going to become my buddy and when I get home noone is going to give a flying Image who i was within 100 yards of over the weekend.

For someone with 8 posts and no information in his profile, you sure do talk a lot of smack.

OK guys, I didn't want to fire you all up about this. I just thought LC5 looked like a fun event and that's the only reason I posted on this forum. I'm sure Oregon is a great place to play. I've even heard John Lu is showing interest in the dead Operation Direct Action site. Entry would still be over $100 but I'm sure if you can get 188 to play in the mud, there would be a pretty good turn out for that. Oh and I wasn't saying we would shoot away from the gaming environment, it was just a joke.

SB,

Direct Action is not affiliated with Airsoft Pacific. That event was posted (after some research by some APST members) without the authorization nor the knowledge of the event even taking place of the ownership of the field. I just felt that should be cleared up.

I did head out to LC3, I did speak with McKnight briefly and he is a decent fellow. I was not impressed with the gameplay or the fields. That was my take on it. Im from Bakersfield, I know what Victorville looks like. It is foothills with a high desert feel. It may be a great event to some, but we are spoiled here in the Northwest. We have an abundance of playing locations that just are outright better than what is available in Southern and Central California. I dont want to tarnish what John Lui is doing by any means. He is a great guy, and LC offers something different to each person that goes. It just didnt fulfill my expectations. I appreciate the heads up on LC5, and Im sure there will be members of this community that elect to make the journey. Unfortunately time, money, and obligations far outweigh the desire to drop $500+ on gaming with famous people, but without player to player accountability and sub-par terrain.

I and most others here (even you Alex) share a bond that I just couldnt find traveling to huge events that fall short of expectations. We all know each other passively or directly. We have people that we trust on both sides of the fight. We know that honor IS here, cheating just isnt prevailent. Those that do are gone. Period.

We are spolied on the fields in the NW. We arent really swayed by the current gucci desert kit that is being used in current military conflicts. We are just playing a game. We dont need celebs to tell us which way to go, and we dont need to drop $500 to get in the best gaming in the US. We already have some great prior and current service CO's that are outstanding motivators as well as great people. (3 that come to mind immediately, among several others that are prior and current service)

LC was a beneficial experience for me. It taught me that what I have at home is way better than what I can find somewhere else. I had taken it for granted before going. Not since.

Would I go if I had the money? After the first experience: no thank you. Im happy here.
