LC5 new field, new rules.

Postby DEADLY » Tue Feb 07, 2006 10:11 pm

Get ready troops, LC5 is going to take place at a much better location from the few pics I've seen and what has been written about it. There will be CQB, open meadows as well as woods. New rules as for the type of mags that can be used.

The cost simply isnt worth it to me. Too much cheese for too little return.

How can you say that when you haven't been to this new location? How can you say that about the biggest event in the country, teams led by leggends like Danny McKnight and "Mad Max" Mullen? What would make it worth it to you?

Well for me it would be if there are vehicles present to use APCs, technicals things of that nature.

Okay. So what did it cost last year? 125 bucks? 130? thats ALOT of money to spend on a single airsoft game, regardless of how big it is going to be. I am not going to say "oh, its big, it must be good" I simply dont believe that. Some of the best games I have ever been to, have been 10 on 10, or even three on three.

Secondly - travel costs. Lets say I drive. Thats a 16 hour drive, minimum. 1000 miles - lets say i get 30 miles to the gallon (its a good day), thats about 33 gallons of gasoline, or at 2 bucks a gallon (its a really good day), 66 bucks. Oops - now the cost of the game is getting closer to 180 bucks.

Oh wait, I forgot. I need to eat. And since, honestly, nothing I make at home is going to maintain in a cooler for the entire trip, that means I am going to have to eat at restraunts. Lets say, just for cheapness, Im going to pick up a few meals at McDonalds or other fast food place. I am going to just throw out a number of 6 meals (although, knowing that i need to maintain the fat, i'll eat more), at five bucks each . . . . . thats another 30 bucks. Now Im at an estimated 210 dollars.

I'll need ammo (another 15 bucks), I'll lose two magazines (15 bucks each), and who knows what else.

Im getting damn close to 250 bucks.

Now, add that to un-favourable storys I have heard from a number of people, about last years game (sorry, i cant put a dollar figure on that).

Especially since I doubt if more than a couple of my friends would go with me. And dont make the mistake of thinking that everyone on this forum is my friend. I cant stand probably 75% of the cheesedicks in this community . . . . well, thats an over-statement. I cant stand a few of them, I actively dislike others, i am ambivalent about most, and the few that I really call friend and would want to go do this with . . . . . . they are looking at the cost and saying the same thing I am saying "250 bucks, at the least? Shit man, thats 25% of my pay for an entire month . . . . and im going to miss a week of work, so i'll effectively lose half a months pay . . . . . "

Nope, playing with a couple "names" just isnt worth it to me. I'll stay here, have a better chance of shooting at a REAL armoured vehicle (not a golf cart with attitude), hang out with my people here, and hoist a beer or two, in honor of the guys who think this game is worth the money.

You said it dude I didn't know it was 150 dollars shazaam that I would rather get a new gun with that. No matter how good the game is I'm never spending that much on a single event. And who are these airsoft "celebs" that are going to be there, unless there jesus I'm not spending that much on one game.

To some, Danny McKnight IS Jesus. He was one of the heros in Mogadishu back in the day. For the guys who have seen Black Hawk Down 876764654 times, he is Cooler than Jesus.

I admire his heroism, but not enough to want to go and play airsoft with him. and the other guy - sorry, I dont recognize the name.

EDIT - I googled ""Mad Max" Mullen" it seems he is some Ranger Master Sgt. If I want to hang out with a Ranger, I can go visit my old room mate. And I guarentee I would have more fun with him than "mad max mullen".
