AUGs are meh. Make sure you've actually tried to use one before you buy it; they seem cool until you've got one in hand. They're actually uncomfortable for most people (especially the magazine release) and just downright odd in so many ways. I know of a few people who like running with AUGs, but most people I've come across who've bought one - myself included - end up getting something else.

Cons you didn't mention about the AUG are the magazine release, the attachment between stock/receiver and barrel assemblies (it's wobbly and does not help to promote accuracy), the foregrip (it's pretty much guaranteed to break off, even on the real gun), and a lovely thing called part ST-21 on the Marui which you will be willing to kill a man to get a replacement for (it holds the gearbox in place; when it breaks [which it will] your gun will no longer function).

If you want bullpup, more people tend to be happier with SA80 type rifles than the Steyr.

I suggest the M4. AUGs are a path into annoyance and failure.

KWA M4 is pretty solid as well.

Id go with an M4. Because you don't have to replace mags. And a small Decrease in accuracy can be fixed with upgrades.

I disagree completely with the AUG haters...

AUG's are only awkward when reloading, and thats only before you get used to it. The bullpup design is so much more efficient. You have the same barrel length as an m16, but when you hold it, it feels like you are holding a p90 or a similar gun of small nature. The aug is very balanced unlike the m4/m16 which makes for better accuracy. It feels like a cqb weapon yet the accuracy and range performs at or above any m16 in the market.

Taking apart the aug is extremely easy, its literally a 2 step process to get anywhere inside the gun...

Not sure what Vogon is talking about with some of those cons, I think he is being WAY too general and subjective, but thats just my opinion.

just add a TBB to the m4. it still can never really be as accurate as an aug. i'd chose the m4, and BTW you will, and i'll bet $1,000 that you will get bored of the highly overused US based loadout pretty quickly.

I love the AUG, I wish they have the shorter version (STG-556) .

I use to have a AUG and I have used my friend's m4 many times. I like the AUGs comfortable fit the only trouble is that they have lower hicaps than the m4, but I used the AUG as a designated marksmen rifle so I didn't need all that much ammo. unless of course you just use Mid or Low caps then you don't have to worry about the highcap variation. Just because the M4 is American or what ever does not mean you should sacrifice your comfort zone. If it fits use it, there is nothing wrong with either gun.

Why do you have all these extra M4 Mags any way?

the AUG has a 330rd hicap. the normal AR style hicap holds 300rd. there are some that have more, but the standard is 300ish.

Because scince everyone and their brother has an M4, I can lend mags to who needs it.

Ive held the AUG, everything feels natural to me. The M4 is comfortable too, but the AUG beats it in that factor. I DESPISE hicaps, therefore it would cost me a fortune in replacing my mids....a fortune I dont have. I have $210 to my name as of now, and I only have $150 in xmas $$$....Im broke as a convict, when I get this rifle, its gonna be around for a while.

Then go for the M4 if you don't want to get more mags, or you could just sell the M4 mags to every one and their brother and get the AUG mags with that money.
