Transporting Airsoft Guns

i was wondering how you should carry your airsoft guns in i public i know like keep the orange tip on but can it be out in the open or does it have to be in a bag or in your coat pocket.

I'd recommend a car. Then all that other BS doesn't matter.
I've never carried any of my guns, airsoft or real, in cases or with orange tips while transporting them in cars. Just put them in the trunk or rear of the vehicle.
Being you're a minor, I wouldn't be walking around w/ them even concealed.

Listen.... just be safer and reduce the risk of being sorry. Forget issues of legality, open carry and all of that. Find some sort of case or bag to put it in and keep it out of sight. You don't want to be hassled by police nor do you want to scare anyone. Any bag or case i.e. gym bag they they fit into will be fine. I use a Fender musician's bag to carry my mp5 and mag/accessories.

Gun case. Get one. Openly brandishing an airsoft gun in public is a very good way to see what a real gun looks like from the business end.

Open brandishing is also illegal in some places, Beaverton Oregon for example. Keep your guns in a bag of some sort and out of site is the best choice.

I follow the rule that someone with one gun is a terrorist, but someone with twenty guns is a smuggler, and / or businessman.

I carry mine in a tub that weighs 100+ lbs with random parts sticking out.

There's a difference between having/carrying and brandishing. Brandishing any weapon is illegal everywhere.
However, it's illegal to fire an airsoft gun in the city of Beaverton, which is true in most cities. It's illegal to fire a bb gun.

I've openly transported my real and airsoft guns in my vehicle many times and have had no problems.

Funny, the one time I've had the cops pull guns on me was when all the guns were in the trunk.

airsoft guns do not meet the legal definition of a firearm. That being said many municipalities ban them and other air guns etc. ( beaverton, salem etc....) the issue comes with any type of display. I have seen people charged with disorderly conduct as they have " caused public annoyance or alarm" so dont go there. speaking as an ex cop type I can tell you that I have experienced some pretty stupid behavior on traffic stops with airsoft guns. do not touch, show mention etc any AS or real gun. I personally have almost killed two very stupid teens who thought it would be cool to display or whatever the hell they thought they were doing with airsoft guns.. All I saw was people reaching under the seat coming out with what looked like a gun. they got to examine the business end of my glock up close. I have had stupid people with CCW permits want to show me their guns for "safety" when they are stopped. Keep your stuff out of sight, and keep your hands on the wheel when stopped. If you posess a CCW permit , the cop already knows it if the car is registered to you. Contrary to what some CCW instructors tell people , seasoned cops do not want you to display your guns. I had a guy take out his real gun and put it on his roof so we could see it. He got to count the lands and grooves up close. short version is use comman sense, and keep em out of sight.

many municipalities have much more restrictive firearms laws than the oregon revised statutes. Under oregon law black powder guns are not firearms.......many felons used that loophole to get .44 cal black powder revolvers then switchout with a non black powder cylnder conversion.....blah blah blah....ad nauseum.....stick with the short version (above ) and by the way dont carry anything looking like a gun on your person unless you like being proned out.

portland is a world unto itself....geez look at some of the people who have been in power there.... glad I live in the sticks....

Just out of curiosity Nocte, is there a date on that Portland ord....I seem to remember a furror over that thing some years ago and I thought it got amended. something regarding preemption of ORS.

I also work in law enforcement and have come across some very uniquely colored real guns. The problem anymore, is that law enforcement officers can not differentiate real guns from 'fake' guns anymore. Sure, the clear plastic bb guns are obvious. When I see/hear about an officer pointing a weapon at someone who has an airsoft replica/bb gun/etc...I place no blame on the officer. I had an incident recently where a guy pointed an airsoft shotgun at a cab driver; cops from two agencies show up with AR-15s, MP5s, and a ballistic shield and pull the occupants of the apartment out at gunpoint. I echo the advice others have listed above, keep the airsoft stuff in the trunk, out of sight, in your vehicle. Do not carry your replica concealed off the field. Use common sense. If you don't have common sense, well, enjoy the short bus.

Take a look at a few of the images below. Although they are uniquely decorated, they are real. I have personally come across two of these duracoated weapons, one of them was loaded. For my fellow LEOs out there, stay frosty, go home safe.
