War Journal (6 Dec 09)

Awesome fun tonight was had by all that attended.

First scenario:
4 insurgents vs 2 Downed Aviators in the city area, they were trying to stay hidden and hold out for pick up.
Aviators were spotted and used bounding cover to pull back deeper in the town but eventually the odds of fire went to the insurgents and they overpowered our poor aviators. I really enjoyed that first game and we will have stories for a long time on the rushing sequence of a certain individual who took quite a peppering at extremely close range. Everyone was really good about calling hits and letting the game move forward at a good pace.
Only thing I would change to this would be to give the Aviators a couple more minutes of set up. But we decided in the interest of time we cut that time short.

Second Scenario:
Was force on force impromptu style. Gmoney called game on as the other 3 operators were returning from clearing a jammed gun full of mud. Now Gmoney, Chisow, and Crusages meant it as a joke as they were not ready either and had no weapons ready. However since Gemlee and his team reacted we just went with it with no goal or underlying objective. Truly a mad rush in all directions and lying down lots of pellets.

Third Scenario:
Objective was a trailer generator in the middle of our field and each team started about 100 yards from objective on opposite sides. Whistle was blown and everyone moved quickly to where they thought they had the best opportunity to take out the enemy and secure the objective. I know Gemlees team started to get bogged down at one point and tried to use a smoke gernade. Note of interest those smoke gernades do not work real well in lots of hard wind and in the open. So the cover for the operator who tried to run across that opening was not real good and he was cut down. They spread out around the water tower and fire fights were going on all around us. Chisow and Crusages got caught on the cat walk at one point and both took hits leaving our 3rd open to full on push, luckily our opponents didnt realize that we were hurting that bad and didnt press the advantage.

Fourth Scenario:
Night ops in a lit city area. same area and same scenario with the generator however the teams took opposite sides of the field. Chisow suggested instead of a frontal assault that we all skirt around the back woodline and stay out of sight as much as possible and try to come in behind the insurgents. The plan was working well but Gemlee must have a 6th sense and at that time decided to go by himself and do the same thing. Gmoney had something for him though with his quick reaction time and was able to dispose of him rather quickly. Only problem was now the insurgents were aware of our strategy and quickly took up counter positions to keep us at bay and further back then any other scenario that night.

Two funny incidents occured after this. Because Gemlee had been cut down so fast he walked almost all the way back to there starting points and Chisow and Crusages were able to move around and get in a small woodline. We watched Gemlee come back in the game and get cut down by his own players as he got back into the action. Now at this point my wife chose a very inconvenient time to call me. Crusages who had moved back some distance was confused and thought the light from my phone and me talking was Gemlee coming back to get us. So he basically shot me up pretty good before I could convey to him that I was a friendly unit and had to now bandage myself.

After doing this and moving back around I was again engaged by insurgents and we went head to head at one point I was lying flat on the ground with a 4 inch wall blocking him and I and we basically shot it out till one of us was hit. Thank goodness I got him cause I couldnt see anything was running out of ammo and had no where to go. We laughed about it as I moved out relaying to him it was his own gun that shot him since he had let me borrow his when mine went down. Now Crusages, Gmoney and I went full out against the other two who were on the objective holding it pretty well. Chisow took his second hit from Gemlee at this point and had to wait on Crusages to move up to him. All three then advanced on the position and Chisow flanked around the water tower and snuck up on the two who were held down by Gmoney, and Crusages. I was able to sneak up to about 10 feet from them and had to wait till I could see Gemlee and then took them both out.

Learning Lessons:
Gernades are alot of fun but dont work so well in the cold.
Gernades are alot of fun and if you are not familiar with them dont pick them up. As ours didnt go off for some time and one didnt go off at all and we had a new person pick one up.

Well was great fun and thanks Gmoney for getting this going. Hope to see more people out there over the holidays 6 was alot of fun and worked well though.

Safe House Achkmed
"A nightmare inside a freezer"

The temperature outside was as cold as the witches tits. I was inside a Safe House with three young troopers; Triton, Crusages, and Cogdill. We were anticipating a raid to happen at any time when all of the sudden, all hell broke loose.
I was outside, momentarily, taking a breath of cold air when I saw movement approximately 50 yards north of the Safe House. But before I can alert everyone inside the house, rounds are being fired toward the second floor window where Triton and our leader, Cogdill were posted. Crusages was on the first floor yelling, “They are coming around the corner!!â€

Down Pilot: The untold story

The New Year, which traditionally should be spent with families in a serene setting, took in a new meaning when the Praetorian Guards and some of 1st Sword operators got together and redefined the meaning of “good will toward menâ€
