Softshell Jackets

Postby Variable » Fri Aug 21, 2009 3:55 pm

I realize that its still summer, but I'm already looking forward to the winter.

So can y'all make a recommendation on a good softshell jacket? Preferably a brand I can get in Ranger Green or Coyote Brown.

So far I've looked at the 5.11 "Response" jacket, the bdu.com (Propper) softshells, and the chinc made stuff on Ebaybanned.

Any personal recommendations?

Danke.

Those ones off bdu.com look bleeding sweet.
We had one at AONW in multicam for a while that I think we ended up sending back, because nobody bought it, but it was pretty bomb diggity.

I personally like my black (I know not the color you wanted) Columbia Titanium softshell. I wear it almost every day in the fall and winter. It is light, yet warm, and easy to move in.

Sure it's not a "tactical" version, but it works just as well.

I have several Columbia jackets including the Titanium softshell, which are great, but I wanted CB/RG instead of black, so here we are :D

Get a new one and a can of spray paint? Or fabric dye?

I like my 5.11 Sabre. Mine is black, but I've been thinking of getting one in tan.

I have a north face softshell (Though in bright orange). It works quite well in keeping moisture out, and is pretty warm. Only complaint (though I wish I could've gotten it in a more earthy color) was the fit. Somehow didn't fit quite right like my other jackets.

MSRP: 100, but I got it for 70 and you can find it lower.

I have 2 of the ebaybanned ones. Black ond green. They are clones of the TAD gear jackets. Wich by the way are the shit. If you have the cash, by the tadgear ones. if you dont, buy the ebaybanned knockoffs.

+1 on the TAD Gear jackets. My cousin & his crew in San Francisco run with them & they are really nice. I hope to snag one next time I'm visiting them.

I think Commando Sweaters in Navy Blue are both classy and timeless.
