GRID 18: REDUX Medic and Hit Rules

Postby Matt » Sun Jun 28, 2009 9:40 pm

HIT RULES

• A "HIT" is a BB strike anywhere on your person; including fingers, pouches, packs, body armor, helmets, etc. 1 hit = 1 kill no matter where the BB strikes your body.

• If you are hit, yell "HIT!" as loud as you can and repeat yourself if necessary. Reveal a red or blaze orange death rag, hold it in your hand, put it on your head, on the end of your gun or somewhere CLEARLY visible.

• Await medical aid or respawn... (see medic rules)

• DO NOT call the enemy's hits. DO notice when your teammates are hit, if they don't notice themselves. Tell them they've been hit. Inform an admin in a orange vest if certain players are not calling hits, do not yell at the other player or confront them during the game.

• Ricochet hits DO NOT count.

• Gun hits DO NOT count

MEDIC RULES

• WHEN HIT, after you call "HIT," you die in place. You must sit or lay down. Have your death rag CLEARLY visible.

• You may call for the medic when dead, but DO NOT TALK TO ANYBODY ELSE ABOUT ANYTHING. Dead or wounded players do not relay intel to other teammates about the enemy's whereabouts.

• If you remain in place for 5 minutes (your best judgment) and receive no medical aid, you can return to your main respawn point. (this applies to dead medics too)

• Players can "drag" the wounded to the medic. This requires 1 hand being placed on the wounded player and WALKING them out, to simulate carry. (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CARRY ANYONE)

RULES FOR MEDICS / MEDIC ROLE

• To heal a wounded player, remove a simulated bandage (bandaid) from it's packaging and apply it. It cannot be prepared early, you must remove it from packaging while giving medical aid.

• Bandages will be supplied by game coordinators

• The banages can only be used once, when you run out, you must be re-supplied.

• Players can only be healed once, a player who has already been bandaged is "KIA" if hit again and must wait in place for 5 minutes and then return to the main spawn point.

• If HIT as a medic, you can be healed by another medic, or you can wait for 5 minutes and then return to the spawn point. You will need to link up with your squad again, they will be counting on your return.

• 1 field medic is assigned per 12 man squad, or 3 per platoon

• Only designated field medics may apply bandages, the medic role cannot change "on the fly" during the game, but may be reassigned by an admin.

If the rules for medics is not a sticky, it should be.
C'mon w/ it!

The Grid18 forum only has 4-5 posts, I guess I could sticky this but it's never going to be on page 2.

One really important change to mention AGAIN is: Players can only be healed once, a player who has already been bandaged is "KIA" if hit again and must wait in place for 5 minutes and then return to the main spawn point.

This will put an end to people being holed up in a bunker with a medic continuously healing them over and over again. You can only receive medical attention once between respawns.

Could you goto your main base and wait 5 minutes? Instead of in some mud you might have fell in?

In most circumstances, you should die in place and wait your 5 minutes there. If you are either in a really bad spot to sit, or in the middle of a firefight and keep getting caught in cross-fire you can leave early and wait out the rest of your time at the spawn point. However - if you haven't already been healed by a medic I would suggest waiting your 5 minutes there so you can jump back in and support your team.

Can we have an admin that sits in the spawn shooting people who aren't reloading or doing something else necessary for re-entering combat? I think it's a great idea.

No - but your CO should be in communication with the spawn point to call in reinforcements to aid in accomplishing objectives. Part of the reason why this happens is lack of interest in the game - I hope to have enough things going on to keep people involved.

If this is milsim then why dont we do: leg hits, cant move, arm hits, you cant use that arm...etc?
Just asking.

probably because in most situations taking a hit that would prevent you from using your arm or walking would be severe enough to put you out of the fight until you got some serious medical aid.
When brute force doesn't solve your problems, you aren't using enough

Too complicated for a game with 200 people. You have to keep it simple, otherwise you got people claiming they got hit in the leg when they were actually hit in the torso. It opens up a whole new avenue for cheating. It's easier to keep things simple and make all hits count as fatal.
