There are six recon team slots available for this event.

(Each recon team must have six men in their patrol.)

I'm really interested in this Wade. It depends on where it is, but I'll see if we can muster a team.

Roger that bro.

Once BRS is out of the way, we will be concentrating on nailing down a location.

This really reminds me of OP Broken Arrow in a way.... EATF put on an OP where it was one recon against 40+ indigenous forces.

So it was 12 members of APST against the world... and it was a blast. We could hear people all around us. It was fun being the hunted. If we made a noise, it could mean our death. So much fun. :D

What kind of info can you give us? I might actually be able to go to this. Somehow you missed drill for September by a weekend!

And I didnt even plan it! It's fate! :D

We are working out a point system as of right now. But the basic premise will be that there are a total number of points in the Recon Zone. Deductions will be assessed per the value of the penalty.

For example:
Lose a team mate to small arms fire -150 pts. The team gets seperated and hopelessly lost -500pts.

It will be heavily geared towards land navigation and accurate SALUTE reports in the scoring, while keeping your team from becoming compromised.

We are looking for a large AO, preferrably in Oregon as it is central. But we have a 1000 acre AO in N. California and I have access to DNR and Forest Capital land in Washington. But we want to try and keep it centralized for the west coast.

Sounds like fun!

NRC will be like that, but with the edge of a competition. We have Roger Muller and Jeremy Miller developing the course and acting as judges. Both have extensive experience in the USMC and US Army in the field of Reconnaissance.

Here is a little tidbit from Roger:

What to expect:
You’re slowly crawling up to the ridge, gently moving branches and grass out of your way, you uncover your ‘nocs and spy down the hillside to the objective. There’s a stack of ammo crates with two enemy guards. You begin to sketch the location on your map and write down the description of uniforms and crate count when...you hear a twig snap.

KA-BOOM! Your buddy just tripped a 12ga shotgun blank rigged to a booby trap. Looking back down the hillside you see a hunter killer team heading your way. You’ve been blown.

But there’s still time to salvage some points. Can you call in the SALUTE correctly? Did you get the uniforms right? How about that count? All this is running through your head as you take your wounded man up an over the ridge just before the hunter killer teams spot you all.

Do more than imagine you're there. Get your squad together. Register for the National Reconners Challenge. Wear the uniform and gear that you think works best. Carry your food on your back. The event will commence Saturday morning, and will end Sunday afternoon.

That's just enough time to show the other guys who's boss.
