Titan 1 Tactical Presents: THE NW AIRSOFT CUP!August 22nd

Postby terror management » Thu May 21, 2009 7:10 pm

Event location: Titan 1 Tactical Combat Park in Keizer Oregon
Event Date: August 22nd
We are looking for teams of 6 players.

This event will challenge participants to demonstrate proficiency in the primary skillsets of an operator: Movement, Shooting, and Communications.

This is not a scenario event. This is a practical shoot, move and communicate competition. There will be no variables between teams. No actors, no judges. Your score is your score, and that is your bragging rights. We will be handing out certificates of completion with your end time. This will be a four-event per year series, with big prizes being given out on the last event of the year.

Participants will compete in three phases. The first phase will cover individual movement and shooting skills. Phase 2 will be a tandem event involving a two room static shoot house. Phase 3 is a dynamic entry on a simulated residential dwelling incorporating multiple shoot / no-shoot targets.

In all three phases, shooters and teams will be evaluated based on time and accuracy. Scoring will be handled identically for all participants, which will allow individuals and teams to get an open assessment of their skills and a clear ranking scale with which to compare themselves with other members of the community.

All participants will be scored based on their time to complete each stage. Standardized additions and subtractions to time will be made based on target identification and fire discipline.

Phase 1 will be broken down into five lanes, each less than 10 feet in width and no more than 125 feet in length. Each lane will have three engagement boxes. In each engagement box, a shooter will assume the required shooting stance or position, fire three rounds at a single target at the end of the lane and move to the next engagement box in accordance with the published lane guidance. Time penalties will be received for each plus or minus impact of the target. Upon exiting the third shooting position, shooters will have the opportunity to engage smaller targets along the top of the initial target for a time deduction. You may shoot while moving, stop and shoot, or just ignore them all together and run for the finish line. The shooter's time will start on the signal and end when they have crossed a predesignated tape line at the end of their lane. All shooters will be given the opportunity to run each lane twice and their final score will be the average of both runs.

Phase 2 will be a tandem course. Participants will enter a two room structure, identify hostile targets, and engage these targets. There will be a mix of clearly delineated shoot / no-shoot targets. Shoot targets will have kill zones in the head and center-mass torso areas. These kill zones will be metallic in nature and will make a clearly audible noise when struck. Participants will be scored based on time, with time additions and subtractions based on successfully engaging shoot targets and avoiding no-shoot targets. To successfully engage a shoot target at least one round must strike a metallic kill zone. Penalties will be assessed for each round that strikes any portion of a no-shoot target. The time will start on the signal and end when both of the participants exit the structure through the second door.

Phase 3 will be a team event. This will be a dynamic entry on a multi-room structure. Teams will be scored based on time with additions and subtractions to this time in a manner similar to that used in phase two. There will be a mix of shoot / no-shoot targets in and around the structure. Time will start on a signal and will end when the entire team has exited the structure and rallied in a predesignated end-stage area.

More information about points and courses will be posted shortly. At the bottom I have outlined the rules so far. What is posted already, are the basic rules you need; You can functionally compete with the information provided. However, we will be posting more information along the way. (How much penalty a no-shoot target is worth, how many points are the bonus clays worth, etc.) We will also be posting blueprints of each course, so you are free to glasshouse and train as needed.

Phases one and two will be held on day one, and phase three will be held on day two. $40.00 per NW Airsoft Cup participant include all 3 phases and camping Saturday night. All the while we are holding this competition, you as paid participants are free to play the rest of the field. Those of you that dont want to be involved in the competition can come out and shoot it up in free play for a small fee of $20.00 for the entire weekend, this includes camping Saturday night! We will have admins running games away from the kill house compound for those who want to get more trigger time.

Sounds f*ckin awesome! I've always wanted to do somethin like this! Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a better gun by then. If I do, I'll definitely be down for this. Are teams required or do people participate as individuals? Couldn't really tell from what was said above.

This sounds a lot like the EATF "SWAT Special Olympics".

Good luck Steve. It should be a fun time.

Thanks Bill

I am hoping that with the additional teams that exist now we will be able to pull this off. When Troy's SWAT Special Olympics(one of the best names for an event ever, by the way) was presented there were fewer teams that were into this kind of thing. Now that this community has evolved and grown we are hoping it works out.

As an f.y.i. kind of thing we at T1T would never try to pull this off by ourselves. We have partnered up with a highly qualified company that does this kind of thing for a living. It was very difficult to find a reputable and qualified company that wouldn't cost so much that it would make the entry fees unbearable. $40.00 for two days of the event with "mini-op" style free play and camping isnt so bad....
Big thanks go out to Stonegate for not charging anywhere near what they are worth.

Is this based on US doctrine?

It's all based on time and accuracy. As long as nothing blatantly unsafe is going on, you can probably feel free to run the course of fire however you want to. The doctrine of your team, or adherance to said doctrine, won't be evaluated. Just the outcome.

Straight time to complete, minus any bonus time awards earned, plus any penalty time awards.

This sounds great, I just got done watching Magpuls: Art of the Tactical Carbine last night.

Can you pick which events to compete in? For instance I think I could get one friend to come with me, so could we compete in event 1 and 2 and skip 3? Or is this an all or nothing format...

Either way I'm there
