How 'bout a desert game??

Postby 19Dcavscout » Mon Jan 16, 2006 11:50 am

Does anyone have access to a desert type field? Maybe something like the Oregon dunes or something. Possibly even out my madras or something else across the mountains. I dunno, I just think it would be cool to actually use my Desert Uniform, and try to play in that environment, because its quite a bit different from the woods on this side.

We've got some terrain up here, might be what you're looking for. sad thing is that most of the desert colors dont come out until the summer. So the Alpine Kommandos will have to coordinate that, as I wont be anywhere near here come summer.

If somebody out there has a decent stretch of property and permission to use it, I have no problem with promoting a game for central OR. Would be a fun trip for this Summer.

Hey gutbuster can you PM me more info about your families property? Sounds great. I know a couple other families with large plots but being in Portland myself its hard to be in contact and scout out potential areas.

Some of the area between Klamath Falls and Bend is high desert. I could look into a game site there.

Yeah, I would be down for that. There are some cool areas in bend down Chinahat Road. There are some caves out there and some other cool terrain.

i say the best place to start before looking for fields cold....is go to the local ranger station or law enforcement and see what they suggest to us, then we can pick and choose locations based on varity of terrain.....msawiel roger that...will do!
there is some BLM my family goes to shoot real steel not far from crooked river ranch....but that is not where we should play, i am just saying...that is how loose law enforcement and rangers are out there. so if we approach them in a pro manner they will probably go out of thier way to help us

sheer mountains, kinda. fvcking cold, yes this time of year. desert, potentially. angry terrorists hiding in the hills, not quite, but there are some rednecks who wouldnt appreciate the irony.

yeah, sure, whatever. Plus, we go out China Hat, people can camp out at Lost Lake. I know a few spots up there, its just not terrible convenient to haul my people out for a few hours. Suppose an overnighter could be a good idea...

Well if you go south to the Steens MT you can get the steep Mountains. But Afghanistan is also alot of just high desert, like south eastern Oregon. Khowst Bowl looks just like the desert inbetween Bend and Burns. If you get up by Jalalabab it looks alot like the crooked river. Over at Asalabad and KG Pass it looks alot like Steens Mountains.

Here is a link to some pics I will put more up later:

I was only there for 7 months though.
