I heard you guys missed me! Sorry butt work calls... for the next year.
Gents I heard the day went well and it sounds like a few new games were played. Wish I could have been there. If events are still going when Im back I will defenately be out there to rain plastic death on you all.
Watching and reading the past 8 pages I have noticed that there seemed to be a little frustration that appiers to have been fixed. I am not going to comment on anything in Rebel's post because I was not there. I am how ever going to use it as an example.
Rebel's post is what was call and After Action Report or AAR for short. Military and LEOs use this to identify the positives and negitives of an event or training evolution to improve their units or events. They follow a basic layout. Gatt's is a perfict example. He gives an over all explination of what went on durring the day. He points out the positive things that were done. Then he points out the not so positve. He continues further on how he feels those issues could be fixed to improve on the skrim for the next time. So it's Heres what happened, here is what rocked, here is what sucked, and this how it can be better the next time format.
I have had my Marines that I have tought do this after every bit of training we did. What happened is the Marines skills in that class drasticly improved the next time they ran the drill. They knew what they did right and wrong and adjusted. Applying this to Ivans Skrims and 3 months from now the games would be more epic and more enjoyable for everyone. (Even if they all ready rock).
This just doesnt apply to the games but indviduals will improve too. "Hey man, when you popped the corner on the shed you were chicken winging your elbow. If you tuck that in you will be a smaller target." Now that player knows what to adjust to improve his game and he will play better. When he steps up in his game others will too. Then you have a better playing group. I recomend doing this at the end of the day or even at the end of every game when everyone is reloading for the next round. You will see a difference.
To the new guys: There is some extremely knowlegable veteran airsofters that go to Ivan's games. Pic their brains, and you will become better players. Mabe even have more fun.
To the vets: You are the old crowd. The new guys look to you as role modles of this sport. This is not just on Ivan's field but every other field you step on. Every word is being listened to, every action is being watched. You have the biggest effect on this sport and it's future. Please dont forget it.
To Ivan: I use to help moderate games when I was in NC. If you need any new game Ideas let me know. I will even type them up in a military Op Ord for you. I may even have some left over from back then.
To everyone: I may be in the sandbox but I will be watching to see how things are going. I do have my eyes and ears on the field every once and a while. If anyone needs anything from me, let me know. I may not be able to get back right away but I will do my best. I have almost 6 years now of combat experence. Almost 2 in Iraq alone, there is alot I dont know and some I do. If you have a question I will do my best to get the info you need.
Out from the Sandbox,
Jerm
