Over The Mountain Anyone?

Postby K-Mac » Mon Mar 30, 2009 6:41 pm

Heyo kids. I was wondering if in the future (possibly end of the summer-ish), would anybody be willing to come to Redmond Oregon for a skirm? The intrest is finally mounting here, and we have a couple of really cool places to play. Anyhoo just lemme know. It would be badass to get some people over here.

I'm out in that neck of the woods on an irregular basis (family's located there for some strange reason), so if you're putting together an OP, let me know. I can even break my desert MARPATs out.

I don't think you're going to get a whole lot of interest from us folks in the Willamette Valley without seeing field pictures/verification that the play is legit. Three hours is a bit of a drive for potentially dodgy woodsball airsoft, you know?

EDIT: Not saying that your fields aren't legit, but a "Come play airsoft, it's cool here!" opening does raise eyebrows.

Why? If I do get this thing rigged up and running I will definitely provide pictures and detail WAY in advance. Contrary to popular belief we are not all illiterate sheep fuckers. Okay.. Maybe we are all related, but still

The reason I have to keep this in the 'if then maybe' stage, is because half of the people I play with are in a transistory stage between having paintball syndrome and wanting to play milsim. Some of them are still struggling to adapt...

But thats neither here nor there. As far as area's to play we're golden. It would take some work on our part (to ensure the trip was worth it:)), but we could do it- easily. Again; its all very dependent on if we can get some players to mature a little bit. If I hype something up, I want it to be pretty good. So people come back again ya know?:)

To respond to your query with further clarification: I wasn't saying you weren't golden. I was saying that if you look back through the historical threads, you'll see more than a few "So I found this field out in the middle of nowhere and since I don't know anything about it, we're probably cool to play there because the local 5-0 doesn't come through there or at least they weren't there when I was there" posts from individuals who had failed to do their research. That is the reason I bring that up, especially when being told that there's a great place to play, if only I'll invest in driving three hours to get to it.

I'm sure they're excellent fields, and the OP you guys put together will be the greatest thing since someone figured out how to slice bread. I didn't intend any sort of "lulz, newb with a big open field, go away" tone, if that's how I came across.

If you guys want help getting an event put together, send me a PM (I'm sure there are others who would be happy to lend a hand/give advice, as well).

I know I'm not the only guy around here itching for more trigger time. As a warning, you will get a great deal more interest out of a "mil-sim" event than you will a "Let's play capture the flag!" event, and even more interest if camping is a possibility (three hours to play, multiple hours of play, plus a three hour drive back does not a happy airsofter make)

Like I said, I can find an excuse to be over in the Redmond area on a regular basis, and we're always happy to find new places to play and people to play with.

Now, back to the fields at hand, I'm sure I'm not the only one would love to hear more about them. Scrubland, desert, forested, water features, structures, size?

I would be totally interested upon more details. Camping would be a huge plus. *wink wink*

If you could put together a multi-day OP, I think that would draw more of a crowd from this side. Helps us justify driving that far.

Well, as the designated local on AP, I'd really like to know exactly where you think you've got room to do a game that isn't going to be Civil War re-enacting with modern gear. So, I'm interested. Where?

I know right? AP does seem to set the standard. I went to a few events a couple years ago (when I was a an ultra noob). Im afraid im going to have to be the one up guy- and incorporate topless hostages into the scenerio. And they will be women 2;). Haha.

Wombat Six- Thanks. I would most defininitley take you up on the advice through PM. I didnt mean to come off as abrasive in my reply. I didnt know about the crappy field incidents in the past. I would be weary of random dudes hosting events as well.

The field that I have in mind is predominantly desert like in nature. Although this paticular place also has some pretty sweet rock formations as well. Think pimped out BLM. Hopefully we can chat more about this tomorrow.

(David- I will hit you up tomorrow. Im in Nyquil land at the moment. Haha)

I'm thinking a 21+ OP where there is stashes of booze that you must guard. And instead of airstrikes, you call in strippers (or some sort of semi nude women).

Or better yet. One team has a stash of booze they must guard, the other has the women. First team to get the other teams stuff wins.

Even thought i wouldn't be able to play in that game, I can totally embrace the fact that it would be great.

Dude.

You really need to talk your girlfriend into having sex with you again...

btw-Sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but I'll pass if there are half (or whole) naked chicks there.

Sorry if I offended anyone with that post. I was running on 2 hours of sleep in the past 48 hours. Looking back, not the best thing I've ever said. Still sounds fun though..... :D
