OP: Steel Talon - March 14 - 15th, 2009

This is something that has really bothered me since PTOC. I believe that Event promoters have the right to determine what type of game they want to run. Now if you post it as an AP game...sure you must abide by the FPS rules. If it's not an AP sponsored game then who cares? But it seems like if you post something about FPS that is different than AP then people are out to lynch you.

AP sponsored/endorsed = Abide with AP FPS rules
Not an AP Event = Do what ever your insurance will allow you to do.

Seems too simple to me

I think it has to do with the 'commonly accepted' rules for the region - if you start a trend and someone attempts change, then you are the bad guy. "We fear change!", but at the same time - it's something that has been driven into people for safety's sake and many don't want to open a gun just to change a spring for an oddball event.
Personally, I don't see why anyone would want to change FPS rules and limits - if they are worried about people not calling hits because the guns are shooting too soft, then arrange a CQB velocity woods game with close and personal contact rules; If you are a pain junkie that wants more oomph and wants to feel it harder play in shorts and a tank, or go play pain-ball.
450 fps for squad autos is retarded - It's too high for a gun that has high potential for over shooting folks which has potential for making pissed off people.

You crazy Americans should have just stopped being lazy and built your own missiles like we did.

Those f***ing chem strikes were retarded. You nail the Main Village, take out 50% of the US, and do any of the Cartel people inside the Village die when the missiles hit? No, of course not, and even when all the US people are running away from the Village, the Admins still call them out.

God damn it TOP, where the hell were our F/A-18s!?!?!?!?

Thats not true... :) I intentionally called some of those strikes on the buildings the Cartel were in... the Admins killed them as well...

See your guys Primary for Phase II was to destroy the missile system... they had that thing up and running the whole phase... NO US troops even tried to destroy the damn thing. Hell at one point Sanchez was up there with only like 5 people defending Rebel Camp...

100 points for Primary's - 50 points for Secondary's... which one should have gotten more attention? Hehehe

i gotta say... being on the SF team, we were pretty much left in the dark when it came to intel. when we got intel it was either vauge or invalid. not knocking anyone because I enjoyed it and command had alot on their plate but i knew nothing about these so called missles we needed to destroy. the only time i heard about missles is when a US squad asked if our crate contained them at which point i said that the crate did not exsist to them.

I like the FPS limits, they keep the game relatively safe and the guns still have enough kick to have range and all that crap. People just complain about the limit because it's something tangible to blame their suckage on.

That wasn't the SF mission... you guys actually made your Primary... that was the main body's mission..

Which is pretty frackin' weird considering I kept sending units in the direction of the missile system (which I had a pretty good bead on about 10 minutes into the phase) and/or telling people that I didn't care about main village and would they please go take out the missiles, and I do recall giving one nice young man a grenade and orders to throw himself on the missile system for Queen and Country...

Now that sounds freaking epic. Though I would have yelled "for mother Russia", even if it was on the US side :P I think people end up just going to the action. And ignoring the orders of command to try and get some trigger time.

we were briefed that we would extract the POW's as 2 main body forces would be coming to support us... never happened. The US side just had a catastrophic comms breakdown. I would like to play it out again!

TOP, Looks like since SANCHEZ made it out alive you need to have a Steel Talon 2
