changing BBs

so, i know theres a 300fps limit on CQB games. and your chart shows that number calibrated for .8j firing a .2...

but since i'd rather not buy two guns, or tear apart my gun everytime i go to a new game, could i just build one to fire .2s at ~390, and then swap in like Digicon .43s, when it comes time to CQB? it'll still be a 1.4j spring, but firing a much heavier round? any ideas?

Standard FPS Limits:
Chronographs are often used before games to test all replicas present. Any replicas that test too high will not be allowed in play. No exceptions will be made, please research upgrades and how they effect your replica before purchasing or installing them. All of the follow velocity limits are with .2g BBs.
Gas Pistols - Green Gas
Fully/Semi Automatics - 400 fps (1.5j)
Sniper Rifles (Bolt Action ONLY) - 550 FPS (2.8j)
CQB/Indoor - All under 300 fps (0.8j)
*Limits Measured with .20g B

OK, yes, switching to a heavier BB would in fact limit your muzzle velocity. But the point of the limits is that the overall energy of the BB remains safe at the various ranges. It takes around 1 joule of energy to break skin at close range. This means bleeding wounds. The velocity limits are imposed using .2's but are actually LOWER with heavier BB's. What you really want to buy are the velocity limiters like mentioned above. This actually has the effect of bleeding off energy to create the safe limits that are imposed.

the hiliters great, but that doesnt tell me if i can just use a heavier round to reduce muzzle velocity...its a bit cheaper than the velocity reducer.

and besiders, does the velocity reducer work well enough to quell 100fps off the velocity?

The velocity reducers are variable. You can bleed off alot or a little depending on your situation.

Edit: Question was answered before I got here. So we struck the commentary. But the rest still stands.

Besides, you're gonna die first, so why are you worrying about getting a chance to fire?

This is exactly the reason why we also list the velocity limits in joules, no matter what your BB type... The joule is a unit of measurement on the actual force of the BB. While .8j might be 300 fps with .20g it's going to be 250fps with .25g. Either way, it's still 0.8j and 0.8j is the limit.

OK, lets make this easy.

A car traveling at 100MPH hits a brick wall and does x amount of damage.

The same damage can be achived by hitting the same wall with a bus traveling 45MPH.

So a .20 going 547 fps has the same kinetic energy and damage capability as a .43 traveling 385fps.

Both will bury in a 4x4 of wood.

These are fps out of my old APS2.

Its not about FPS it is about kinetic energy.
