both. for airsoft, you cannot beat the reliability and inherant consistancy and accuracy of the AK style hopups and the durability of the V3 gearbox. however, the AR platforms have a much larger parts and accessories base, and are generally easier to work on.

just like the real AK and AR, they each have thier benefits and drawbacks. this is a topic which will never have a definitive resolution, everyone has thier own opinions and experiences. i would wager more people use the AR platform though, because it is the US style and the replicas are so common.

I used to be an M4 sportin' player, but after seeing the beauty of the AK, the resilience of the gearbox and seeing WAY too many M4's on the field...the choice was easy.

I say Galil. Same caliber as your AR with what I believe to be a more dust resistant action.
For airsoft I'd have to say it depends on what role I'm playing, so I can't vote just based on my opinion. I like them equally.

AK47. In real life, I like the concept of the M16 better, because of the more accurate round. However, airsoft is a fashion show, and I like the looks of the AK47 more. I haven't always been this way, but I just like the deadly curves of the Kalashnikov over the Armalite. Plus, you have to factor in the inherently better design of the AK47 in it's airsoft form. The version 3 gearbox is more rugged, and you don't have to worry about barrel wobble. Magazines hold more ammunition, and in my opinion the AK is just more ergonomic. You don't have nearly as many sight options, but that's alright. It's heresy to mount a red dot on an AK47 anyway.

I hate the stock angle on the AKs. I really really dislike the iron sights.

Other than that, they're just fine.
