CONFLICT EUROPE: Operation IVAN CROSSING May 4, 2008

Hosted by: Black Sierra Productions

Cost: $25

Where: Splat Action Paintball

When: May 4th, 2008

Why: The free world hangs in the balance.

Backstory:

The world political landscape has shifted greatly since the fall of the Berlin wall. The world market, a newly industrialized Russia has nearly equalled the needs of the West, with its highly oil dependant nature.

Russia in 2005 refocused on refining after years of neglect as hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico drove fuel prices to record highs and a new export tax regime in Russia favoured product exports at the expense of crude. As a chorus of consumers called for new refineries to ease tight markets, and oil producers, especially Russia's Middle Eastern competitors, rushed to oblige, Moscow chimed in with proposals for huge plants near major outlets. With the backing of Russian officials keen for more value-added exports, state pipeline monopoly Transneft called for two huge new plants, one near the Baltic port of Primorsk and another at the end of a planned crude pipeline to Asia. Each would have a capacity of at least 400,000 b/d and a cost of $3 bn.

With the completion of the Primorsk refinery in 2008, and Southern Asia in 2009 Russia was no longer facing the shortage of heating, transport, and military fuel needs that plagued the Soviet Union for more than 30 years.

With this success though, came contempt from their Middle Eastern partners of so many years. The oil valves of the fertile cresent that serviced Russian needs for decades slowly closed, from lack of support from the its new domestic oil independance. Low sales from the Western nations due to political instablity forced the Middle Eastern market to flounder, with only one major consumer: China. OPEC nations cost per barrel sales submarined with China's insistence on lower cost production to meet their economic models.

January 2010: Turbulence within the Middle Eastern Oil (MEO) producing regimes, having provided high level engineering management personel in both refineries at Primorsk and Southern Asia, the MEO elected to break the economic back of their now production competitor Russia.

Small groups of trusted high level workers in both refineries, agents of the MEO, penetrated the control facilities, and created an devistating fire that engulfed not only the refineries themselves but also the outlying oilfields that supplied the refineries. Billions of barrels of oil, both refined and not, lost. Hundreds of lives lost.

With the loss of their two major refineries, facing heating, food, and basic human services supplies from this catostrophic attack......there is only one option:

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!

Registration tips:

#1 Try to pay using the exact amount of cash ($25) - This helps cut down the time for having to break bills (large or small)

#2 Be prepared to fill out a BSP waiver - There is always alot of confusion about "having a waiver on file". BSP requires a NEW waiver at every event we run. So this means that nobody "has a waiver on file" and everyone must fill out a new one. Sorry NO exceptions.

***Downloadable waiver below*** (Print it, fill it out, bring it)***
http://www.blacksierra.net/PDF%20Docume ... Waiver.pdf

#3 Be prepared to fill out a SPLAT ACTION waiver - There is always alot of confusion about "having a waiver on file". SPLAT ACTION requires a NEW waiver at every event they host. So this means that nobody "has a waiver on file" and everyone must fill out a new one. Sorry NO exceptions.

***Downloadable waiver*** (Print it, fill it out, bring it)***
http://www.splataction.com/pdf/SplatActionWaiver.pdf

#4 Keep in a single file line - This helps ensure a smooth flow of things

#5 Register early - We will have "early registration" available 1 hour after the gates open "officially" for Saturday night camping and it will be available until we determine the need to be absent. Registering early helps reduce the game day rush of everyone trying to register and go through all the other hoops and get ready for that days event.

#6 Follow the order -
Fill out waivers and/or turn waivers in (BSP & Splat Action waivers)
Pay for event *Unless pre-paid
Receive ticket for raffles
Purchase ammo *If needed....
Exit area

Ammo availability:

Ammo will be available for purchase at the registration booth. Since this field is "Technically" a BIO ammo field only, only BIO ammo will be sold on the premises. We will eventually have to become BIO ammo compliant, so let's start now.

BIO ammo is available in the following weight, quantity of rounds and price:

.20g 3,500rds. $12.00
.25g 3,500rds. $12.00
.28g 3,000rds. $12.00

***Please note***
This ammo is not cheap chinese poo ammo. BSP has been using this ammo for over a year now with great results. It is made in a Taiwan factory with great quality control. It is a precision grade ammo at 5.97mm +/- .01mm (most ammo is 5.95mm). For the price, qty and performance no other BIO ammo can compae nor most non-BIO ammo out there.

Luckily Alex, the field is being rebuilt. There are already 3 new playing areas, and the buildings are being redone.

A lot of landclearing and natural bunkers.

I was pretty shocked. I'll be posting some pictures of the changes. It's quite a bit different.

Postby KA-BAR » Fri Mar 21, 2008 8:32 am

yea, i am afraid that is the one factor that makes this event SUCK, the location. i want to support BSP, but on this one i will have to pass. any ATAC membert that choose to go, do not wear your gear, if you get paint on that tan gear ill be pissed off. wear another camo choice if you are going.

BSP need to get back on track with pistol blocks and the mout blocks, because i could care less about OP level games or skirms right now.... i want training training training, so that when the challenge is held, me and mine will be ready.

until that happens, i wont be showing out to any BSP events that are anything less then the image portrayed.

I'm there. Personally, I don't see a huge problem with the Splat Action field. We can to camp out overnight for free at most OPs (which, c'mon, is the best part of OPs), it's a decent sized field with lots of cover. I know people are burnt out on it, but let's be honest with ourselves, we're spoiled. How many time did StrikeZone games get crappy turnouts because people were sick of the same thing? Now it's unavailable to us, and who wouldn't pay $25+ to run a BSP game there now? It'd be full before the day was done.

Barring any super-secret-squirrel plans, the only fields we currently have available are Scappoose, Timber Junction, and Splat Action. Rilea isn't counted because of its exclusive nature as an invite-only deal. Scappoose is still in good shape (for now), but Timber Junction is a difficult area to play in, and with the bees and lack of any moderate ground to run on. Splat Action winds up being the second best field we have. Let's not bash on it, because it's not like we have a ton of other options.

...and Morgan, paintball goo washes out, bud. You know those big white metal boxes in your house that your wife keeps messing with? It's a magic transporter that teleports the dirt from your clothes to an alternate dimension. True story. ;)

Guys, to alleviate any concerns about splat action, there are HUGE plans in effect to improve the field. Splat Action has added another owner and they're working hard to add more bunkers, clear out the underbrush, and make the place a better location for airsoft.

They're actually planning on building a town, a real town, on the field.

BSP will be assisting Splat Action in their efforts to improve their field and your overall experience at that location.
