One more thing, would an M4 be to modern to bring to this game?

No. Any M16 variant would be fine. The idea that this game is based in the 80's but it's an "alternate timeline" themed event so who knows what "might" have been invented. I think we will have a few weapon restrictions but it will be more based on what would be realistically available. For instance, a SAW is not likely to be available to the general population. Doesn't mean that someone wouldn't have one but they will be limited. We have not determined the exact guidelines yet but we will be flexible so that people can get in. We will want people who are willing to get into "role" though.

Think of it as a movie that you got thrown into the middle of. If everyone tries to act the role at the event then it will make it seem more like movie and less like a "game". You make the event better!

We will be posting more information on the rules, possible locations, costs and registration details in the next week. It looks like this is shaping up to be a fun event. I am looking forward to it.

I hope this takes place somewhere in Oregon or southern Washinton!

Would a SOCOM 16 be an acceptable M14 variant? I might be getting one soon.

If the dates dont change, DAM is a maybe, its spring break after all but count me in plus 2 on the wolverines, again. Plus, would a G36C be an ok gun for this event?

RED DAWN
22-23 March

Locations is tentatively Randle, WA. Total registrations will determine location.

The time has come.

The Russians have invaded. They occupy American land and have our towns are in a vice grip of propaganda and brutal control. It is up to you to fight the fight! You have feld to the mountains and have gathered a band of fighters to take up the cause. The winter snows make it difficult to return but offer you protection from those who hunt you! You will be fighting Russians, Cubans and traitors!

Get ready, you'll be coming for blood when the snows thaw.

SIDES and UNIFORM WEAPONS REQUIREMENTS:

This is an 80's themed event. Please try to pick gear/uniforms that was around during the mid-late 1980s. If you have questions, please ask one of us old farts who were around at the time! Please ask here in the forums.

ABOUT OPFOR

Russians will be played by OPFOR players. This means OPFOR roles will be more scripted and will require a level of play that is beyond normal game play. OPFOR will be expected to maintain total unit cohession and will be treated as a real military unit. This is not a side for the first time player or players who have not been to at least 2 or 3 Battlesim events. It is a challenging and rewarding role.

In order to play OPFOR, you will need to obtain permission from Hellmutt directly. There is a $100 fee on OPFOR BUT WE WILL GIVE YOU A COUPON IF YOU ARE APPROVED. So get your approval by PM'ing Hellmutt on Battlesim.com or contacting him directly through email or at the store.

WOLVERINES:

UNIFORM - Civilian as based on the movie. Ideas include, hunting gear, letterman's jackets, jeans, etc. Weapons prefered bolt action, civilian model assualt weapons, captured Russian weapons. Remember you are a civilian, so you likely won't have a M60 or a SAW but you could have an AR15 or other common cilivian weapon.

US ARMY:

UNIFORM - Woodland US. ALICE gear circa 1984. Prefer M16 variants and other 80's US army weapons.

RUSSIAN/CUBAN

UNIFORM - KLMK, OD, Lizard, and other common Russian uniforms. WEAPONS: AK74 and AK47s mostly. Other weapons on a per individual basis. YOU NEED APPROVAL TO RUN RUSSIAN BEFORE YOU SIGN UP!

I would very much like to attend the Red Dawn OP. What are the restrictions concerning G36's and MP5's? Allowed at all or do I need to get an ak or M4?

Registration closed. We are postponing this event do to issues with the field and the date change and low (zero) registrations. In order to use this AO we need to have at least 80 registered players and we are not confident that we will be able to get that many players due to the date changes and the current registration level.

If it starts back up, I am in.
We'll fight them on the ground,
We'll fight them in the sky,
When the Army and Navy are heading home,
The Marines are standing by.
