Airsoft gets more bad publicity

Two seperate airsoft stories in the news tonight.
This taken from KPTV.com

BANKS, Ore. -- Washington County authorities said a teenage boy is in custody after reports of shots fired put three Banks-area school in lockdown.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department swat team responded to an apartment near South Main Street in Banks around 2 p.m. on Wednesday after reports that someone fired several shots into the air before going back inside.

The teenage boy surrendered shortly after 3 p.m. to authorities, claiming the gun he shot was actually an Airsoft rifle, officials said. The Washington County Sheriff's Department told FOX 12 they have not confirmed the teen's story.

All three Banks area schools located near the apartment complex were put into lockdown as a safety precaution and have since been released.

The other story I saw on the o'clock news but couldn't find reference on their web site. Essentially two nimrods tried to rob a convenience store using airsoft pistols. They used moms car for their getaway. Witness got the license plate and the police got their man.

All this asshattery has me concerned over the future of our hobby.

EDIT>>> DOh! I see Maxx beat me to it.

The airsoft community needs to assemble a nationaly, no INTER-nationaly reconized organization, thats main concern is the safety of the hobbies future, and the pubilc eye.

But now it seems as if the two are eclipseing closer and closer......

Actually since this event, less illegal airsoft activities have occured due to the public ban of replicas in the Beaverton area.

Note the "Since this event" part. Then read the date of the start of the thread.

By no means is the problem over with, but it has been minimalized atleast around here.

You just have to assume that if they weren't using replicas they would have gotten ahold of real firearms...

I'd rather be robbed by a Gbb then a 9mm.
